Advanced Full Stack Developer Vehicle Homologation & Type-Approval Systems (Contract)

Our client is seeking an advanced full-stack software engineer to maintain develop deploy and operate backend cross-platform applications based on modern Java frameworks.

In this role you will collaborate within an Agile feature team to build robust RESTful APIs integrate event-driven messaging workflows and support containerized deployments that digitize and automate global product compliance and vehicle type-approval processes.

• EXPERIENCE: 3 5 years of Java (Spring) development and full-stack software engineering experience
• COMMENCEMENT: 01 June 2026
• LOCATION: Hybrid: Midrand/Menlyn/Rosslyn/Home Office rotation
• TEAM: Software Engineering / Central Ordering & Volume Planning

Qualifications / Experience

• IT Degree / Diploma / Equivalent practical experience
• 3 5 years of intensive Java (Spring Boot) development experience
• Proven experience in designing implementing maintaining and monitoring enterprise solutions

Level Criteria

• Delivery: Delivery is sometimes unclear and may require the employee to seek clarity and adapt requests to be aligned to business standards. Employee may be expected to provide guidance to lower level employees
• Knowledge: Expertise in a specific field or discipline with multiple experiences where practical implementation has been merged with technical theory
• Problem Solving: Check that the solutions by others are addressing the problems identified. May need to develop simple solutions to varied problems in single systems
• Supervision: Mostly autonomous with a mentor on tasks that require senior involvement

Essential Skills Requirements

• Deep proficiency in backend engineering with Java Spring Boot
• Strong full-stack web development capabilities using Angular and (TypeScript and JavaScript)
• Solid database experience with SQL (Oracle Postgres)
• Comprehensive knowledge of continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) utilizing Git and GitHub
• Robust experience with messaging streaming and integration patterns using Kafka & JMS (MQ)
• Practical cloud infrastructure experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS)

Advantageous Skills Requirements

• Familiarity with build automation and containerization tools using Maven and Docker
• Knowledge of container orchestration platforms and observability tools using Kubernetes and Prometheus
• AWS Cloud Practitioner certification (or higher) alongside Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) experience via Terraform
• Strong understanding of integration web services specifically RESTful and SOAP services
• Proven ability in the architectural design and development of decoupled Microservices
• Hands-on experience executing comprehensive unit testing and end-to-end integration testing
• Active experience utilizing Jira and Confluence within an Agile Working Model

Role Requirements

• Serve as a core member of a cross-functional DevOps team dedicated to the end-to-end development optimization and maintenance of global Central Ordering and scheduling applications
• Translate user stories and complex business goals into high-quality technical code independently and on time
• Direct active standby and production support workflows remaining fully available to execute after-hours weekend and public holiday troubleshooting on a rotating roster
• Collaborate with international business analysts and end users to map technical solutions to critical manufacturing and demand constraints
• Refine size and estimate user stories during collaborative planning participating actively across all key Agile ceremonies
• Build robust architectures adhering strictly to code compliance automated coverage and foundational ISO documentation standards
• Proactively track system risks and deployment impediments engineering quick mitigations or raising transparent escalations where necessary
• Present proposed application solutions clearly to the Product Owner driving continuous peer review and cross-team knowledge transfers
