About the Role
An established multi-province services and installation business is looking to appoint its first full-time Financial Manager to take ownership of the finance function and play a key role in improving commercial decision-making across the organisation.

This is a hands-on position suited to a commercially minded finance professional who wants to do more than manage accounts and reporting. While the role carries full responsibility for the day-to-day finance function a significant focus will be placed on job costing margin analysis pricing and operational profitability.

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer and working closely with the owner and executive team the Financial Manager will have the opportunity to build and shape the finance function while developing the financial models and insights required to support the continued growth of the business.
Key Responsibilities
  • Take ownership of the day-to-day finance function including monthly management accounts cash flow forecasting and management reporting.
  • Oversee debtors creditors banking payment controls payroll and statutory submissions working with external accounting support where required.
  • Maintain the integrity of the accounting system and strengthen financial processes and controls.
  • Build and implement job-level costing models across labour materials callouts travel and other operational costs.
  • Analyse margins and profitability by branch work type and technical team identifying opportunities to improve performance.
  • Review and develop pricing models using accurate costing and margin data to support commercial and rate negotiations.
  • Analyse fleet costs on a cost-per-kilometre and cost-per-job basis and identify opportunities for improved efficiency.
  • Lead budgeting and forecasting including seasonal and capacity modelling to account for fluctuations in business volumes.
  • Provide practical financial insights to the COO and executive team to support pricing operational and strategic decision-making.




Requirements
Qualifications and Experience
  • CIMA qualified or CA(SA) with strong commercial costing experience.
  • Approximately 610 years post-qualification experience including at least three years within services field services construction engineering or manufacturing.
  • Proven experience building a job or product costing model from scratch.
  • Strong experience in management reporting budgeting forecasting pricing and margin analysis.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills; Xero experience would be advantageous.
  • Commercially minded and comfortable working closely with operational teams to understand costs and profitability.
  • Valid drivers licence and willingness to travel to regional branches occasionally.

Please note: Candidates from a predominantly external audit background without practical commercial costing experience are unlikely to meet the requirements of this role.
