Job Summary
Role Purpose
The Financial Accountant is responsible for overseeing and supporting the day-to-day accounting operations across PayGenius Powertime and Energy Intelligence. This role ensures accurate consolidated financial reporting regulatory compliance and robust internal controls providing leadership with timely and reliable financial information to support strategic decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee and perform month-end and year-end close procedures across all three entities in line with group timelines.
Prepare and process monthly journal entries accruals prepayments and intercompany transactions.
Reconcile balance sheet accounts across PayGenius Powertime and Energy Intelligence resolving reconciling items promptly.
Assist in the preparation of monthly management accounts consolidated financial reports and entity-level reporting.
Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable functions across the group where required.
Support the preparation and submission of VAT returns and other statutory obligations for all entities.
Coordinate with internal and external auditors providing supporting schedules and documentation across all companies.
Maintain the fixed asset register for each entity.
Monitor and report on cash flow positions across the group.
Ensure compliance with IFRS and all relevant South African financial regulations.
Identify and implement process improvements to enhance financial reporting efficiency and accuracy.
Liaise with cross-functional teams including Operations Legal Compliance and Technology across all three businesses.
Minimum Requirements
Finance or Accounting Degree (BCom or equivalent) or a recognized Accounting Diploma.
Minimum of 2 years experience in a financial accounting role.
Solid understanding of IFRS and financial reporting principles.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.g. Sage Xero or similar ERP).
Strong attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and reporting deadlines across several entities.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Some exposure to forecasting cashflow management reporting automation KPI dashboards and strategic finance support
Advantageous
Currently enrolled in or working towards the CIMA qualification.
Experience in the fintech payments utilities or energy sector.
Exposure to multi-entity or group accounting environments.
Experience with VAT and South African tax compliance.
Familiarity with automated reporting and business intelligence tools.

Required Education:
