Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced finance professional to lead and resolve outstanding SARS audit requirements compliance backlogs and related technical accounting matters. The successful candidate will act as the key liaison between the business and SARS driving audit resolutions ensuring accurate and timely submissions and mitigating compliance risks.
This role is ideally suited to either: A Financial Accountant or Financial Manager with extensive experience managing SARS audits tax compliance and regulatory matters within FMCG retail or a similar high-volume environment; or
An Audit professional with significant exposure to SARS engagements tax audits audit remediation projects and the resolution of historical compliance backlogs.
Strong technical expertise excellent stakeholder management skills and a proven track record of successfully resolving complex audit-related issues are essential.
Job Description:
- Take ownership of all outstanding SARS audit requirements and drive matters through to successful resolution
- Engage directly with SARS representatives and maintain professional working relationships to facilitate efficient outcomes
- Prepare review and submit supporting documentation required for SARS audits verifications disputes and information requests
- Investigate and resolve historic audit findings compliance gaps and tax-related backlogs.
- Coordinate responses to SARS queries within required deadlines
- Analyse complex tax financial and audit-related matters and provide practical solutions
- Ensure compliance with VAT Income Tax PAYE and other relevant statutory requirements
- Review financial records and supporting documentation to validate compliance and identify areas of risk
- Liaise with external auditors tax consultants and internal stakeholders where required
- Support the preparation and submission of tax returns and reconciliations
- Identify process weaknesses and implement controls to strengthen compliance and reduce future audit exposure
- Provide technical guidance to finance teams on tax audit and regulatory matters
- Maintain accurate records and audit trails for all SARS-related engagements
Skills & Experience:
- Minimum 4 to 6 years related experience
Qualification:
- SAICA/SAIPA/Tax Qualification/
