Drive Financial Excellence in a Dynamic Global Environment
We are seeking an experienced and highly analytical Finance Manager (Foreign Exchange) to take ownership of foreign exchange management hedge accounting financial reporting and currency risk mitigation. This role is ideal for a qualified finance professional who combines strong technical expertise with commercial acumen and a passion for delivering strategic financial insights.The successful candidate will play a key role in managing foreign currency exposure supporting cost-effective purchasing decisions ensuring regulatory compliance and providing accurate financial reporting in a fast-paced commercial environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Foreign Exchange & Forward Cover Management:
- Monitor foreign currency exposure and execute forward cover strategies to minimise exchange rate risk.
- Manage the timely settlement of foreign exchange contracts and Letters of Credit.
- Ensure adherence to foreign exchange policies and procedures.
- Execute and accurately record forward cover purchases and settlements.
- Prepare monthly and ad-hoc reports on foreign exchange positions.
- Manage quarterly hedge accounting processes including relevant tax calculations.
- Communicate exchange rates to stakeholders and ensure all systems are updated accordingly.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to assess and maintain forward cover requirements.
Forecasting & Budgeting:
- Forecast the impact of foreign exchange movements on financial performance and balance sheet accounts.
- Assist with annual budgeting processes including the budgeting of currency fluctuations and foreign exchange differences.
Risk Management & Process Improvement:
- Identify opportunities to improve systems controls and processes.
- Continuously evaluate foreign exchange products and structures to optimise risk management strategies.
- Support initiatives that maximise the utilisation of alternative invoicing structures where commercially beneficial.
Financial Reporting & Controls:
- Produce accurate financial reports and maintain robust financial records.
- Support effective cash flow management and financial controls.
- Perform monthly reconciliations of foreign exchange-related accounts.
- Ensure reconciling items are valid investigated and resolved within required timelines.
- Manage month-end year-end and external audit requirements.
- Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
Market Research & Economic Analysis:
- Monitor global economic trends currency markets and geopolitical developments.
- Conduct technical research and financial analysis to support decision-making.
- Attend market briefings and economic presentations where relevant.
- Assess the impact of economic events and market developments on foreign exchange strategies.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelors Degree or equivalent tertiary qualification with Accounting as a major.
- Qualified Chartered Accountant (SA).
- Minimum 3 years post-qualification experience.
- Strong experience in financial and management reporting within a commercial and/or retail environment.
- Proven expertise in foreign exchange management hedge accounting and financial controls.
- Proficiency in SAP S/4HANA.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel and Google Workspace skills.
- Strong understanding of financial reporting standards risk management and treasury functions.
