Job Summary
Our client a Private School located in the heart of Durbans Berea requires a Finance / Business Manager to be responsible for the Finance and Facilities functions of the School. The Business Manager is required to achieve revenue targets and expenditure control in order to meet strategic objectives.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepare develop and maintain long term finance strategies and policies aligned to the overall strategy.
- Full responsibility for the ongoing financial functioning of the school incl. reporting forecasting and budget management.
- Identification of opportunities for additional revenue generation and cost savings
- Oversee the Finance IT and Facilities Management Teams
- Management of School cash flows as optimally as possible.
- Determine and negotiate optimal borrowing structures where applicable.
- Manage the required finance and accounting requirement of the school Trust
- Oversight of the school Pension Fund
- Ensure that the appropriate insurance portfolios are in place and review annually.
- Oversee security health and safety and ensure that appropriate structures and policies are in place.
- Ensure that the school vehicles are roadworthy and insured and that all staff are permitted and licensed appropriately to drive.
- Review all service provider contracts from a business perspective to determine and mitigate financial risks
- Renegotiate contracts or implement mitigating controls to counter identified risks
- Oversee the Schools IT systems and hardware
- Oversee the HR requirements of the school
- A tertiary Accounting qualification preferably to Hons level and Articles
- 5 years experience as a Financial Manager or in a senior Accounting function.
- Relevant finance experience in an educational institution would be advantageous
