Estimator Equipment & Service Department

Join our specialised Rebuild team at Weco a global leader in equipment and services as an Estimator based in Krugersdorp. This role offers a unique blend of engineering precision technical inspection cost analysis and customer engagement playing a vital part in ensuring the quality and profitability of rock drill component repairs.

Mission of the role:

As an Estimator you will be responsible for the accurate assessment and detailed inspection of rock drill components and assemblies. You will apply your expertise to evaluate component conditions using precision measurement tools and OEM specifications preparing essential quotations that drive effective repair and rebuild decisions. Your work ensures that repair standards are met costs are effectively managed and customer satisfaction remains high.

Your Mission:

  • Inspection & Assessment: Perform comprehensive inspections of drifter bodies components and assemblies comparing findings against engineering drawings OEM specifications and company repair standards. Identify wear damages defects and failure causes.
  • Measurement & Quality Control: Use and maintain precision measuring instruments such as verniers micrometers CMM and gauges to measure critical dimensions and tolerances accurately. Record data meticulously and ensure compliance with quality standards.
  • Quotation Preparation: Analyse inspection data to determine repair requirements and identify whether components need repair refurbishment or replacement. Prepare precise quotations reflecting parts labour machining and repair costs using Microsoft Excel.
  • Documentation & ERP Management: Develop and maintain detailed inspection reports technical documentation and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Accurately capture and update information in JobBOSS ERP or equivalent systems to maintain workflow efficiency and data integrity.
  • Customer Interaction: Communicate technical findings and recommendations clearly to internal teams and external customers. Represent Epiroc professionally during all client engagements supporting customer trust and long-term relationships.

Your Profile:

  • Qualified Tool Jig & Die Maker Fitter & Turner or Quality Controller/Inspector with 3-5 years of experience in manufacturing engineering machining repair or quality inspection environments.
  • Proficient in using a wide range of precision measuring equipment and Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and machine manuals effectively.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with experience in compiling technical reports and SOPs.
  • Computer literate with the ability to use ERP systems; JobBOSS ERP experience is an advantage.
  • Preferred experience in mining rock drill repair and rebuild-shop operations.
  • Understanding of machining processes tolerances fits and repair principles is highly advantageous.
