Estimator and Takeoff Specialist

Position Overview

The Estimation & Plan Takeoff Specialist is responsible for analyzing architectural and engineering drawings to produce accurate material labor and cost estimates. This role supports project bidding budgeting and execution by ensuring precise quantity takeoffs and well-documented estimates.

Key Responsibilities

• Review and interpret architectural structural and MEP plans.
• Perform detailed quantity takeoffs for materials equipment and labor.
• Prepare cost estimates and maintain estimation records/databases.
• Collaborate with project managers engineers and procurement teams to validate takeoff results.
• Identify discrepancies or conflicts in drawings and communicate findings.
• Utilize digital takeoff and estimating software (e.g. Bluebeam PlanSwift AutoCAD).
• Support bid preparation and provide input for project budgets.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards and company procedures.

Education & Experience

• Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering Architecture Construction Management or related field (preferred).
• Minimum 23 years of experience in estimation quantity takeoff or related construction roles.

Technical Skills

• Proficiency in digital takeoff software (PlanSwift Bluebeam Revu AutoCAD or similar).
• Strong knowledge of construction materials methods and industry standards.
• Ability to read and interpret complex architectural and engineering drawings.
• Competence in Microsoft Excel and other data management tools.
