Our client is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer with strong VSD and drive systems expertise to join their engineering team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the electrical design application commissioning and technical support of variable speed drives and motor control systems across industrial projects.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the electrical design application commissioning and technical support of variable speed drives and motor control systems across industrial projects.

Duties & Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and engineer electrical systems incorporating VSDs soft starters and motor control equipment.
- Select and specify VSDs motors switchgear protection and associated electrical equipment.
- Develop electrical schematics single-line diagrams control circuits and cable schedules.
- Configure and integrate VSDs into PLC SCADA and industrial control systems.
- Perform VSD parameterisation testing commissioning and fault-finding.
- Conduct site inspections equipment assessments and technical investigations.
- Provide technical support to clients contractors and internal engineering teams.
- Assist with electrical calculations equipment sizing and technical specifications.
- Develop and review engineering documentation and drawings.
- Investigate motor drive and control-system faults and recommend corrective actions.
- Support installation commissioning and start-up activities on site.
- Ensure designs comply with applicable South African standards and client specifications.
- Liaise with suppliers regarding drive selection technical queries and equipment performance.
- Provide technical input into quotations tenders and project proposals where required.
- Travel to client and project sites as required.
Minimum Requirements:
- BEng / BSc / BTech in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
- Professional registration with ECSA would be advantageous.
- 37 years experience in industrial electrical engineering.
- Strong practical experience with VSDs / Variable Frequency Drives.
- Experience with motor control MCCs switchgear and electrical protection.
- Experience in industrial automation and integration with PLC/SCADA systems.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and schematics.
- Experience with electrical design and engineering software.
- Strong fault-finding and commissioning capabilities.
- Valid drivers licence.
- Willingness to travel to project and client sites.
Advantageous Experience:
- Siemens ABB Schneider Danfoss Rockwell/Allen-Bradley or similar VSD platforms.
- PLC and industrial automation experience.
- Mining manufacturing water energy or heavy industrial environments.
- LV/MV electrical systems.
- MCC and motor control centre design.
- Harmonic analysis and power quality.
- Electrical protection and coordination.
- Experience with commissioning and troubleshooting VSD-driven equipment.
