Job Summary

We have a new and exciting role available within our Corporate Intelligence division in Cape Town for aSeniorAnalystor Analyst dependent on level of relevant experience working primarily on projects insub-Saharan Africa.

THE ROLE

At S-RM no day is the same and there are incredible opportunities to to say our investigative training is amongst the best in the some of the brightest colleagues to support you - former journalists economists lawyers scientistsandfinancial analysts. Collectively our people speak more than 40 languages.

We are looking for someone who is adaptable can be part of a team and wants to grow with the business.

In this roleyoullbe responsible for:

  • Researching and writing intelligence reports on companies and individuals for due diligence and investigatory purposes;
  • Providing subject matterexpertiseon thebusinesspoliticalandregulatory risk environmentsin sub-Saharan Africa;
  • Conducting research primarily inEnglish as well as French Portuguese and other relevant languageson corporate and political issues; and
  • Presenting to managers and clients.

The rolewillbe based in our Cape Town officeand is hybrid with two days a week in office.

WHAT WERE LOOKING FOR

We think candidates with the following skills and experience are likely to succeed as Due Diligence Analystsat S-RM.

Werelooking for someone thatis able toadapt to change and work comfortably in a fast-paced environment this person will have some orall ofthese skills:

  • Excellent research and investigative skills. Experience working with human source intelligence (interviews and field work) will be beneficial;
  • Demonstrable experience in research writing planning and organising projects;
  • A clear interest in sub-Saharan Africa business and politics;
  • A professionalworkingproficiencyin English;
  • Aworkingproficiencyin French Portuguese or other relevant languageswould also be beneficial but not essential;
  • As a minimum a bachelors degreein a suitable field. Relevant degrees may include but are not limitedto:economics international relations law finance political science or similar; or equivalent work experience.
  • Several years experience working in a relevant commercial environment is highly commercial experience may include (but is not limited to) work within the corporate intelligence sector law finance investigative journalism energy mining and similar industries.

Successful candidateswill also need toshow the following personal attributes:

  • A curious mindset and an enthusiasm for research and investigations;
  • A clear interest in business and political affairs insub-Saharan Africa;
  • Outstanding interpersonal skillshonestyand reliability;
  • An ability to thrive under pressure and work to tight deadlines;
  • A proven ability to work unsupervised andoperatewith a degree of autonomy;
  • Excellent attention to detail; and
  • A proactive mindset and a willingness to work outside the job specification whenrequired.

Candidates must have permission to work in South Africa by the start of their employment.
