Advanced Data Scientist AI & Machine Learning Solutions (Contract)

Our client is seeking an elite AI architect who designs and deploys production-grade agentic systems and expert chatbots that automate conversations and solve complex business problems at enterprise scale!

Architect sophisticated AI solutions using Amazon Bedrock AgentCore LangChain LangGraph and PyTorch on containerized Kubernetes infrastructure with advanced MLOps practices!

The ideal candidate is an industry-leading AI expert with a proven track record delivering large-scale enterprise AI solutions who excels at orchestrating multi-step reasoning and agentic workflows brings deep expertise in model training/deployment with PyTorch/TensorFlow demonstrates mastery of containerization networking and performance engineering for ML workloads establishes robust MLOps/GenAI Ops practices including CI/CD and observability and provides technical leadership while mentoring teams on AI architecture and operational excellence!

• POSITION: Contract: 01 July 2026 31 December 2028
• EXPERIENCE: 3 5 years of hands-on experience in data science machine learning and applied AI
• COMMENCEMENT: 01 July 2026
• LOCATION: Hybrid: Midrand/Menlyn/Rosslyn/Home Office rotation
• TEAM: Data Science and Engineering / AI Platforms

Qualifications / Experience

• Minimum Masters Degree in Data Science Computer Science Statistics Engineering or a related field with strong mathematical foundations
• 3 5 years of hands-on experience in data science machine learning and applied AI
• Proven track record operating mission-critical platforms in an enterprise environment

Level Criteria

• Communication: Adapt (Reach agreement through flexibility and compromise. The parties generally have the same objective)
• Delivery: Delivery is sometimes unclear and may require the employee to seek clarity and adapt requests to be aligned to business standards. Employee may be expected to provide guidance to lower level employees
• Knowledge: Expertise in a specific field or discipline with multiple experiences where practical implementation has been merged with technical theory
• Problem Solving: Check that the solutions by others are addressing the problems identified. May need to develop simple solutions to varied problems in single systems
• Supervision: Mostly autonomous with a mentor on tasks that require senior involvement

Essential Skills Requirements

• Proficiency in Python for data science and production code development
• Strong experience with classical machine learning algorithms and applied AI techniques
• Practical experience building and training deep learning models using TensorFlow
• Familiarity with MLOps practices for deploying and managing models in production
• Experience with data engineering tasks: ETL preprocessing feature engineering and visualization
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with attention to performance efficiency and scalability
• Experience engaging with stakeholders and translating business needs into technical solutions

Advantageous Skills Requirements

• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms such as AWS and Azure
• Experience with ML frameworks beyond TensorFlow (e.g. PyTorch Keras scikit-learn)

Role Requirements

• Research design and implement deep learning and machine learning models to meet business needs
• Understand stakeholder requirements and translate them into ML solutions
• Write Python code and contribute to reusable machine learning pipelines
• Work closely with international teams of data scientists ML and software engineers to deliver solutions
• Provide support for low-code/no-code solutions to enable business users where applicable
• Stay up to date with advances in data science and implement best practices across projects
