Our client based in Centurion Pretoria is looking for an experienced Cybersecurity Engineer/Specialist to support and maintain the cybersecurity control environment that underpins business-critical systems and aligns with the organisations IT and Cybersecurity strategy.
The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the availability integrity monitoring performance and security of the clients cybersecurity solution stack while operating largely independently within established policies procedures standards and processes.
This role is ideally suited to a professional with expertise in Microsoft Security technologies FortiGate Varonis data security solutions and ManageEngine IT management tools. The successful candidate will play a critical role in safeguarding the organisations infrastructure ensuring compliance and driving operational excellence across enterprise systems.
The role is hybrid and includes a three-month probation period. This is a 12-month contract with the possibility of extension.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- Apply Microsoft Security expertise to strengthen identity access and cloud security.
- Administer support and maintain the implemented Microsoft Security stack including Defender XDR Entra Purview Intune MFA and Security Copilot across production and non-production environments.
- Administer monitor and troubleshoot ManageEngine tools including ADManager ServiceDesk and Endpoint Central to support IT operations.
- Configure manage and optimise FortiGate firewalls and FortiClient VPN to secure network access and operations.
- Monitor and maintain Varonis solutions for data protection including Data Discovery and Classification Exposure and Risk Analysis Threat Detection and Response cross-cloud integration and data lifecycle automation as well as insider threat monitoring and compliance.
- Review SOC/SIEM Alerts/Calls and managed remedial actions by accountable parties.
- Implement cybersecurity controls monitor networks perform vulnerability assessments manage access permissions and ensure compliance with security policies and standards.
- Manage domain security firewalls antivirus updates network architecture security audits and assessments and patch and vulnerability management.
- Support IT projects including planning execution renewals and change management processes.
- Produce operational and cybersecurity reports maintain accurate logs and governance documentation.
- Drive continuous improvement of the cybersecurity posture by recommending new technologies enhancing IT performance and developing standards procedures and guidelines.
- Collaborate effectively with application infrastructure and security teams( Including SOC/SIEM).
- Maintain accurate technical documentation and provide support for internal and external audit requirements.
- Prepare documentation reports and cybersecurity training materials including KnowBe4 content to support compliance initiatives.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- 35 years experience in cybersecurity engineering IT security operations infrastructure security or a related field.
- A relevant IT diploma or degree would be advantageous but is not mandatory.
- Relevant industry-standard qualifications such as CISA CISM CRISC CGEIT CEH CPTE CISSP or AWS Security certifications will be advantageous.
- Microsoft Security certification such as SC-200 SC-300 SC-400 or an equivalent qualification.
- Strong hands-on experience with the Microsoft Security stack including Defender XDR Entra Purview Intune MFA and Security Copilot.
- Fortinet NSE certification will be advantageous.
- Proven experience with FortiGate firewalls and FortiClient VPN.
- Additional security certifications such as CISSP and CompTIA Security will be advantageous.
- Experience with Varonis data security solutions including data discovery threat detection and compliance monitoring.
- Familiarity with and experience in using ManageEngine tools including ADManager ServiceDesk and Endpoint Central.
- A solid understanding of identity and access management vulnerability management risk management and remediation.
- Familiarity with regulatory cybersecurity and compliance frameworks such as ISO 2700x NIST COBIT POPIA GDPR PCI-DSS SOC 2 and ITIL.
- Knowledge of SOX compliance and SOX ITGC is required.
