Job Summary
Location: Witbank Mpumalanga
Contract duration: 12 months
Project: Large capital project
ProjectLink is looking for an experienced Cost Controller for a 12-month assignment on a large capital project in Witbank.
The role requires someone who understands project cost control beyond updating spreadsheets. You should be able to maintain accurate cost information identify variances and emerging risks and give the project team a clear view of current performance and the expected final cost.
Key responsibilities
- Maintain the project cost-control system and cost breakdown structure
- Track budgets commitments actual costs accruals and forecasts
- Prepare regular cost reports and cash-flow updates
- Monitor expenditure against the approved budget
- Analyse cost variances and identify potential overruns
- Support the preparation and maintenance of the Estimate at Completion
- Monitor approved and pending changes and their cost impact
- Reconcile project cost data with procurement finance and contractor information
- Verify the accuracy and completeness of cost information
- Support monthly reporting and project review meetings
- Maintain clear supporting records and audit trails
- Raise cost risks and discrepancies early and follow them through to resolution
Experience and requirements
- Previous experience as a Cost Controller on large capital engineering or construction projects
- Practical experience in project budgeting forecasting cost reporting and variance analysis
- Experience working with commitments actual costs accruals and change control
- Strong working proficiency in Microsoft Excel is essential
- Ability to interpret and reconcile financial procurement and project information
Advantageous
- Experience using Key 360
- A relevant qualification in Cost Management Finance Quantity Surveying Engineering or Project Management
