Job Summary

Our client is seeking an experienced Cost Commercial Lead to join their Johannesburg team supporting major transport and utilities infrastructure projects. This is an opportunity for a commercially astute quantity surveying professional with strong cost management contract administration and execution-stage experience across complex infrastructure environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed cost estimates Bills of Quantities and cost plans for major infrastructure projects.
  • Provide cost advice throughout the design and construction lifecycle.
  • Lead tender and procurement processes including tender documentation and bid evaluations.
  • Negotiate with contractors subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Manage post-contract cost control including valuations payments variations and final accounts.
  • Administer contracts in accordance with FIDIC NEC and JBCC standards.
  • Assess contractual claims extensions of time and variations.
  • Prepare monthly cost reports cash-flow forecasts variance analysis and Estimated Final Costs.
  • Identify cost risks and develop appropriate mitigation strategies.
  • Lead value engineering initiatives and identify opportunities for improved project value.
  • Support the management development and growth of the project team.
  • Contribute to bids new business opportunities and continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree in Quantity Surveying or Civil Engineering.
  • Professional Quantity Surveyor (PrQS) registration with SACQSP is mandatory.
  • Minimum 10 years quantity surveying experience within construction civil or infrastructure projects.
  • Strong understanding of commercial management procurement and construction contracts.
  • Proficiency in Dimension X (DIMX) CostX WinQS and Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience with rail aviation or port infrastructure will be highly beneficial.
  • Excellent analytical negotiation and communication skills.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and teams simultaneously.
