Duties & Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

Costing and Manufacturing Analysis

  • Develop maintain and review standard costing models across products and manufacturing processes.
  • Analyse material labour and overhead costs to identify variances and opportunities for cost savings.
  • Perform detailed cost analyses for all projects.
  • Support pricing decisions through accurate product costing and margin analysis.
  • Monitor work-in-progress (WIP) raw material and finished goods balances.

Financial Reporting and Analysis

  • Prepare monthly costing reports and management information.
  • Analyse manufacturing and operational variances and provide recommendations for corrective action.
  • Support month-end and year-end financial closing processes.
  • Assist with budgeting forecasting and financial planning activities.
  • Prepare profitability and margin analyses by product class

ERP and Systems Management

  • Maintain costing-related master data within the ERP system.
  • Assist with ERP process improvements and system enhancements.
  • Partner with production engineering procurement and supply chain teams to improve costing accuracy and operational efficiency.

Compliance and Continuous Improvement

  • Ensure adherence to internal controls accounting standards and company policies.
  • Identify process improvement opportunities to enhance operational efficiency and financial performance.
  • Support Lean Manufacturing Continuous Improvement and Cost Reduction initiatives.
Desired Experience & Qualification

Minimum Requirements

Qualifications

  • BCom Cost & Management Accounting or CIMA
  • 58 years in a heavy manufacturing or engineering environment
  • Proven standard costing and variance analysis experience
  • Strong WIP and project costing expertise
  • Syspro experience (or another major manufacturing ERP)
  • Demonstrated ability to work closely with engineering production procurement and supply chain teams
  • Advanced Excel and financial modelling skills
  • Exposure to lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Strong understanding of standard costing and variance analysis.

Technical Skills

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Knowledge of IFRS
  • Experience with financial reporting and management accounting.
  • Ability to analyse large data sets and present meaningful recommendations.
