Company and Job Description:
A privately owned South African industrial group specialising in the processing and supply of high-grade mineral products to local and international markets is looking for a Cost Accountant to join its finance team.With operations spanning multiple processing facilities the business supplies major heavy-industry markets both locally and internationally. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on finance professional who enjoys working close to operations and understands the commercial importance of accurate costing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and maintain accurate cost accounting records
- Analyse production costs variances margins and cost drivers
- Prepare cost reports and provide financial insights to management
- Assist with budgeting forecasting and financial planning
- Analyse manufacturing and operational expenditure
- Support month-end reporting and financial reconciliations
- Work closely with operational teams to identify cost-saving opportunities
- Assist with internal and external audit processes
- Ensure financial controls and accounting policies are maintained
Job Experience and Skills Required:
Qualifications:- BCom Accounting Finance or related qualification
- Manufacturing or Mining experience essential
- Previous Cost Accounting experience essential
- Experience working in a fast-paced operational environment
- Some audit experience advantageous
- Exposure to production or processing environments highly advantageous
- Strong cost accounting and financial analysis skills
- Advanced Microsoft Excel
- Strong numerical and analytical ability
- Excellent attention to detail
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Commercially minded with a hands-on approach
