Job Summary

Thusa Batho Labour Solutions is seeking to appoint a qualified and experienced Construction Health and Safety Agent (CHSA) for a fixed-term construction project based in the Northern Cape.

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance with all applicable Occupational Health and Safety legislation and Construction Regulations throughout the construction and project close-out phases.


Key Responsibilities
  • Act as the Construction Health and Safety Agent on behalf of the client.
  • Coordinate health and safety matters between project stakeholders and contractors.
  • Attend project meetings and provide health and safety guidance.
  • Monitor compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Construction Regulations.
  • Conduct site inspections audits and risk assessments.
  • Identify assess and report health and safety risks.
  • Liaise with regulatory authorities where required.
  • Review and maintain health and safety documentation.
  • Ensure statutory compliance throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Finalise and hand over the Health and Safety File upon project completion.
  • Monitor contractor compliance with approved Health and Safety Plans.
  • Prepare health and safety reports and recommendations.

Requirements
  • NQF Level 6 qualification in Safety Management or a related field.
  • Active registration as a Professional Construction Health and Safety Agent (Pr CHSA) with SACPCMP.
  • Minimum of 5 years post-registration experience as a Construction Health and Safety Agent on construction projects.
  • Proven experience as a Construction Health and Safety Agent on at least one construction project valued at more than R50 million.
  • Thorough knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Construction Regulations.
  • Strong understanding of construction health and safety compliance requirements.
  • Excellent report-writing communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and provide professional health and safety oversight on-site.
Preferred Experience
  • Large-scale infrastructure or commercial construction projects.
  • Public sector construction projects.
  • Multi-disciplinary construction environments.
  • Health and Safety auditing and compliance monitoring.
