To lead an expert patient-oriented pharmaceutical care service that promotes the appropriate use of medicines in the hospital
Provide Clinical Pharmacy Services to the hospital
Initiate and implement the Antimicrobial Stewardship Programme and enhance the appropriate utilisation of antimicrobials
Provide information related to pharmaceutical utilisation trends strategies and medication to the hospital
Mitigate and support the management of pharmaceutical risks in the hospital
Ensure accurate dispensing where applicable
ESSENTIAL EDUCATION: MPharm or relevant postgraduate degree
DESIRED EDUCATION: Antimicrobial Stewardship course Infection Prevention and Control related course
ESSENTIAL MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: 2 years experience as a Ward or Clinical Pharmacist
DESIRED EXPERIENCE: Experience in managing an Antimicrobial Stewardship Programme
- Antimicrobial stewardship processes and procedures
- Ethical pharmaceuticals
- Knowledge of the pharmacy and related healthcare industry
- Relevant Pharmacy legislation (e.g. Pharmacy Act; Good pharmacy practice; Medicine Control Act 101 of 1965)
- Development of pharmaceutical guidelines and protocols
- Knowledge of quality improvement methodologies
- Surgical pharmaceuticals
- Develop patient treatment plans
- Knowledge and experience working with relevant pharmacy systems (e.g. UNISOLV; AS400)
- Computer literate (Microsoft Office)
