Role Overview

A specialised Clinical Endoscopic Nurse responsible for delivering individualised holistic and personcentred care within a highly technical endoscopic environment.

The role includes coordinating patient care supporting surgical teams and ensuring adherence to clinical protocols and theatre standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Endoscopic Theatre Management: Maintain stock levels ensure instrument completeness and uphold endoscopic protocols and BOMs.
• Preoperative Coordination: Conduct preop visits to surgeons rooms and patients; align daily lists with surgical teams.
• Training & Clinical Support: Mentor scrub nurses in endoscopic procedures; lead daily huddles and act as a clinical resource.
• Advanced Clinical Care: Assess plan and implement specialised nursing care; participate in multidisciplinary rounds; initiate emergency treatment (RESUS) within Scope of Practice.
• Documentation & Communication: Maintain accurate shift documentation; ensure effective communication with the Unit Manager and broader clinical team.
• Quality Safety & Risk: Uphold a safe environment; monitor equipment utilisation; contribute to policy and procedure development.
• Education & Staff Development: Support inservice training orientation and ongoing professional development for staff and students.
• Resource Allocation: Allocate staff according to acuity and specialised skill requirements.
• Digital & Clinical Technology Adoption: Support implementation of electronic patient records escripts and clinical order systems.

Minimum Requirements

• Registered Professional Nurse with SANC and a PostBasic Endoscopic qualification (12 months).
• Strong knowledge of general and specialised nursing theory and practice.
• Extensive experience in modern endoscopic nursing principles and theatre operations.
• Ability to work under pressure adapt to changing conditions and collaborate effectively across disciplines.
• Strong communication clinical judgement and patientadvocacy skills.
