The successful candidate will be responsible for the development and management of 3D CAD models civil and structural drawings design documentation quantities and technical deliverables across various project phases.
Working under the direction and supervision of a Professional Engineer the Civil Technologist will collaborate closely with other engineering disciplines including Mechanical and Electrical Control & Instrumentation (ECI) to deliver accurate and coordinated project solutions.

Key Responsibilities
3D Modelling & Design
- Develop and maintain accurate 3D CAD models for civil and structural infrastructure.
- Produce models using Autodesk Revit and Civil 3D.
- Perform clash detection on integrated multidisciplinary project models.
- Coordinate 3D models with Mechanical and ECI engineering disciplines.
- Present 3D models during internal and client design review meetings.
- Complete civil design work under the supervision of the appointed Professional Engineer.
- Assist with design calculations and technical documentation.
Civil & Structural Draughting
Produce detailed and general arrangement drawings covering:- Civil infrastructure.
- Water sewer and stormwater networks.
- Earthworks.
- Buildings.
- Structural steelwork.
- Reinforced concrete structures.
- Reinforcement detailing and bending schedules.
- General layouts and arrangement drawings.
- Alignment sheets.
- As-built drawings.
- Exhibit and presentation drawings.
- 2D process-related drawings including MFDs PFDs and P&IDs.
Quantities & Project Documentation
- Determine project quantities from drawings and models.
- Compile Bills of Quantities (BoQs) and Material Take-Offs (MTOs).
- Prepare calculation sheets and technical files.
- Maintain accurate drawing and project documentation.
- Compile meeting minutes and other project records.
- Complete timesheets and general drawing office administration.
- Ensure drawings and deliverables comply with project requirements and applicable standards.
Site & Project Support
- Conduct site surveys when required.
- Participate in site inspections.
- Provide technical support during construction activities.
- Assist with site supervision when required.
- Identify and resolve drawing modelling and site-related technical issues.
- Perform other technical duties and project-related tasks as directed by management.
Minimum Requirements
- Matric / Grade 12.
- BTech in Civil Engineering.
- Practical experience in civil and structural engineering design and draughting.
- Strong experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D and Revit.
- Experience with Prokon.
- Good understanding of civil infrastructure and structural detailing.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical information.
- Strong computer literacy including Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat.
