Duties and responsibilities

Assist journeymen in framing operations: carry and distribute lumber hold material during layout and nail off sections under supervision
Perform layout tasks: read tape measures use squares and mark cut lines accurately from blueprint dimensions
Operate circular saw miter saw and drill/driver for cutting and fastening under journeyman supervision
Install blocking and backing for future fixture points fire blocking in framed cavities and nailers for finish transitions
Load and distribute materials on the job site: bring lumber panels and hardware to the work area as needed
Set up and break down job site work areas: staging areas saw stations and material storage
Assist with door and window installation: carry and position units hold in place during shimming and fastening
Perform rough cleanup tasks: clear scrap lumber sweep subfloors and maintain a safe and organized work area
Attend apprenticeship classroom instruction and complete homework assignments for related technical instruction requirements
Maintain and clean personal hand tools and power tools; report equipment damage or defects to the journeyman
