Are you passionate about PLC programming and industrial automation An exciting opportunity exists for a Junior Automation Technician / PLC Programmer to join a forward-thinking engineering team working on diverse automation projects across South Africa.

Duties & Responsibilities

Job & Company Description

This is an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on exposure to a wide range of projects in growing automation engineering business serving the mining and industrial sectors. The successful candidate will be involved in PLC programming control system integration commissioning troubleshooting and ongoing technical support.

Key Responsibilities

Assist with PLC programming modifications and system enhancements
Support commissioning and startup of automation and control systems
Diagnose and troubleshoot automation equipment and control system faults
Assist with HMI and SCADA development and configuration
Integrate field instrumentation sensors actuators and VSDs
Provide technical support and diagnostics to clients on-site and remotely
Maintain project documentation backups and software revisions
Participate in automation projects from design through to commissioning

Education

Formal qualifications in Electrical Engineering Automation Instrumentation or related fields will be beneficial However candidates with strong practical automation experience and a proven technical track record are encouraged to apply.

Job Experience and Skills Required

2-3 years experience in industrial automation controls or maintenance environments
Exposure to PLC programming and automation fault-finding
Ability to interpret electrical schematics and control system drawings
Experience with one or more of the following platforms:
- Siemens
- Allen Bradley
- Omron
- Mitsubishi
- Schneider Electric
- ABB
Willingness to travel to customer sites when required
Valid drivers license advantageous
