Job Summary
- Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on diesel and petrol generator systems
- Diagnose and repair electrical automation and control system faults on generators and associated equipment
- Install wire test and commission generator systems control panels and Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS)
- Configure programme and troubleshoot generator controllers PLCs and related automation equipment
- Conduct functional testing load bank testing and commissioning of generator installations to ensure compliance with operational requirements
- Fault-find on power distribution control circuits protection systems and generator synchronisation equipment
- Assist with electrical upgrades modifications and system improvements to enhance reliability and performance
- Grade 12
- Trade Tested Electrician
- Minimum of 3-5 years experience in industrial electrical automation or generator systems environments
- Experience with generator installations maintenance and fault finding will be advantageous
- Strong understanding of AC/DC electrical systems motor control circuits and diesel generator operations
- Experience with PLCs control systems HMI interfaces and generator controllers such as Deep Sea Electronics (DSE) ComAp or Lovato
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics wiring diagrams and control panel layouts
- Experience with Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS) synchronisation systems and standby power installations
- Sound knowledge of electrical fault finding and diagnostics using testing equipment
- Knowledge of industrial health and safety standards relating to electrical installations and generator systems
- Computer literate with the ability to complete service reports and maintenance records
- Valid Code EB drivers licence is essential
- Willingness to travel to customer sites and participate in an on-call standby rotation for emergency breakdowns
- Candidates must reside in the Port Elizabeth / Kariega area
