Job Summary
Our client is seeking an experienced Asset Manager to oversee the commercial financial and operational performance of a portfolio of renewable energy assets based in Cape Town. This is an excellent opportunity for a strategic leader with strong experience in the South African Independent Power Producer (IPP) sector to maximise asset value across the full project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the asset management function from financial close through the full Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) term.
- Develop and implement asset optimisation strategies to maximise technical and financial performance.
- Monitor project profitability cash flow budgets and financial performance against forecasts.
- Drive commercial optimisation initiatives including refinancing and operational improvements.
- Oversee compliance with project agreements finance documentation permits and regulatory obligations.
- Build and maintain relationships with shareholders lenders regulators off-takers and other key stakeholders.
- Manage project reporting board packs and governance requirements.
- Lead and mentor the asset management team while fostering a high-performance culture.
- Support risk management insurance administration and continuous process improvement.
- Ensure Health Safety and Environmental compliance across all assets.
- Work closely with operations teams to improve plant availability and overall project performance.
Minimum Requirements
- Engineering or Finance degree with strong project finance knowledge.
- 510 years experience within a South African IPP asset management environment.
- Demonstrated experience managing renewable energy assets including wind solar and/or battery energy storage projects.
- Strong commercial financial and contractual management experience.
- Proven stakeholder management experience with lenders regulators shareholders and project partners.
- Experience reporting to Boards and senior leadership.
- Strong leadership analytical and organisational skills.
- Willingness to travel as required.
