Job Summary

KEY PURPOSE OF JOB

The Assembly Technician is responsible for the precise and high-quality assembly of electronic and mechanical components used in satellite systems. This includes cleanroom operations PCB population harness assembly and final product packaging all carried out to the highest space-industry standards. The technician will play a key role in ensuring product integrity traceability and compliance with rigorous quality processes.

KEY TASKS:

  • Day-to-day operations within the cleanroom assembly environment.
  • Population and hand-soldering of PCBs to high-reliability space standards.
  • Assembly and repairs of pc boards and integration of mechanical components into chassis.
  • Application of glues thermal compounds and conformal coatings.
  • Operation of tools and equipment including curing ovens vacuum tanks solder pots and crimping tools.
  • Strict adherence to traceability protocols throughout the assembly process.
  • Logging and managing components work-in-progress and completed products.
  • Capturing job status and task completion within the production system.
  • Secure packaging of final products for international shipping.
  • Reporting on production progress and escalating issues to the line manager.
  • Interpreting and reviewing assembly documentation and build instructions.
  • Ensuring manufacturing steps align with documented procedures and quality standards.
  • Signing off all relevant documentation for complete traceability and accountability.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

Qualifications:

  • Valid IPC J-STD-001 Class 3 Certificate (preferred)
  • Certification or training in electro-mechanical assembly wiring and soldering techniques (advantageous).

Experience:

  • Minimum of 35 years experience assembling complex high-reliability electro-mechanical equipment.
  • Assembly of electrical harnesses and mechanical integration.
  • Previous Solder Experience.

COMPETENCIES & SKILLS:

  • Working in controlled environments such as aerospace medical or military manufacturing.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 standards and cleanroom procedures.
  • Proven ability to interpret electronic/mechanical drawings and follow detailed build instructions.
  • Comfortable working with small components using a microscope.
  • Strong attention to detail time management and documentation skills.
