Our client is seeking a Mid to Senior Android Developer to join their Payments Technology this role you will be responsible for developing enhancing and maintaining Android-based card payment applications used on point-of-sale devices.
Youll work within a specialised payments environment building secure high-performance applications that integrate with payment hardware financial messaging systems and transaction processing platforms. The role requires strong native Android expertise hands-on payments experience and a deep understanding of transaction processing technologies.
This opportunity is ideal for developers who enjoy solving complex technical challenges working with specialised hardware and building software that powers critical payment infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

• Design develop and maintain native Android applications for payment terminals and POS devices.
• Build and support secure payment processing solutions within a financial services environment.
• Integrate Android applications with payment terminal hardware including card readers NFC devices and PIN pads.
• Develop and maintain solutions supporting EMV-compliant card transactions.
• Work with financial messaging systems and transaction-processing frameworks.
• Troubleshoot and resolve production issues across payment applications and device integrations.
• Collaborate with stakeholders product teams and engineering teams to deliver new functionality.
• Participate in testing deployment and support activities across the software development lifecycle.
• Ensure compliance with security quality and best-practice development standards.
• Contribute to technical design discussions and continuous improvement initiatives.

Job Experience and Skills Required

• Proven experience as a Native Android Developer.
• Strong proficiency in Java and/or Kotlin.
• Hands-on experience developing applications for Android-based POS or payment devices.
• Experience working with EMV payment protocols including contact and/or contactless transactions.
• Knowledge of ISO 8583 financial messaging standards.
• Experience integrating Android applications with hardware peripherals such as card readers NFC devices and PIN pads.
• Experience with Android AIDL and IPC communication mechanisms.
• Strong understanding of secure application development principles.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced financial services environment.
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.

Advantageous Skills

• React Native experience alongside strong native Android expertise.
• Ionic or Capacitor development experience.
• Exposure to PCI PTS and PA-DSS security standards.
• Experience with DUKPT or MK-SK key management.
• Previous experience within fintech payment processing or payment terminal environments.
• Experience working with payment terminal vendors or transaction-processing platforms.
