Job Summary

Durban North. An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced and hands-on Accountant / Senior Bookkeeper with at least 5 years end-to-end accounting experience. The successful candidate must have strong working knowledge of Sage One and Sage Payroll excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage financial operations reporting and compliance within strict deadlines. Experience in leading and managing a small team is essential.

Please take note of working hours:

Monday to Friday: 08h00-17h00; two Saturdays per month: 08h30-13h00

Responsibilities include:

Maintain accounting records through to trial balance including journals accruals fixed assets and monthly reconciliations
Manage Sage One integrations with the online store and other systems including testing troubleshooting and staff training
Process payroll and coordinate the integration of time-and-attendance systems ensuring accurate hours overtime and leave records
Prepare monthly management accounts annual financial statements audit schedules budgets and cash-flow forecasts
Oversee debtors collections creditors and payment preparation in line with approval procedures
Reconcile bank accounts card transactions till receipts and online sales investigating discrepancies where necessary
Manage stock accounting stock takes branch transfers costing and margin reporting
Ensure timely and accurate VAT PAYE UIF SDL and income tax submissions and reconciliations
Maintain financial controls audit-ready documentation company compliance CIPC submissions and insurance records
Lead and support a team member monitor performance and identify opportunities to improve processes and efficiencies

Requirements:

Minimum 5 years end-to-end accounting experience including within a retail environment
Essential experience with Sage One and Sage Payroll including online-store and system integrations
Diploma or degree in Accounting or Finance or an equivalent relevant qualification
Advanced Excel skills including pivot tables lookups and financial data analysis
Strong understanding of financial reporting reconciliations tax compliance and internal controls
Experience with accounting practice payroll integrations and completed articles or professional registration would be advantageous
Excellent organisational analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
Strong commercial awareness leadership ability and professional communication skills
A proactive dependable and detail-oriented individual who takes ownership maintains confidentiality and consistently delivers accurate work
