2. Job Summary

The successful candidate will deliver high-quality undergraduate teaching and practical instruction in mechanical engineering manufacturing systems and related technical areas. The lecturer should combine strong academic knowledge with applied industry-relevant teaching and be able to support students through lectures tutorials practical sessions projects and assessment.

3. Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and deliver lectures tutorials practical sessions laboratory/workshop activities and other assigned learning sessions.
  • Teach relevant subjects such as engineering mechanics manufacturing processes production systems engineering materials CAD/CAM machine design maintenance automation robotics thermodynamics and related areas.
  • Develop lesson plans lecture materials practical exercises and learning resources aligned with approved curricula and learning outcomes.
  • Use engineering software demonstrations case studies and project-based learning to strengthen students practical and problem-solving skills.
  • Set mark and provide timely feedback on assignments tests examinations laboratory reports and student projects.
  • Supervise undergraduate design projects capstone work internships or applied learning activities where assigned.
  • Promote safe and responsible use of laboratories workshops machinery and technical equipment.
  • Maintain accurate attendance assessment and student-performance records and submit required academic documentation on time.
  • Provide academic guidance and mentoring to students and support learners who may require additional academic assistance.
  • Contribute to curriculum review quality assurance research innovation and relevant academic or industry-engagement activities.

4. Qualifications and Experience

Applicants should have:

  • Minimum Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering Manufacturing Engineering Mechatronics Industrial Engineering or a closely related discipline from a recognised university.
  • A relevant Bachelors degree in engineering is required.
  • A PhD in a relevant discipline is an advantage.
  • Previous university teaching research or professional engineering experience is strongly preferred.
  • Practical experience in manufacturing fabrication maintenance CAD/CAM automation robotics or industrial production is an advantage.
  • Ability to use modern engineering software digital learning tools and applied teaching approaches is desirable.
  • Professional registration or membership of a recognised engineering body is an advantage where applicable.
