Job Summary

Job Summary

We are seeking a qualified creative and experienced Lecturer in Interior Design to teach and support students in interior design space planning design principles materials furniture layout colour theory technical drawing and design presentation.

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality teaching preparing lesson materials assessing students work supporting practical design projects and helping students develop the skills needed for employment entrepreneurship and professional practice in the interior design industry.

The ideal candidate should have strong knowledge of interior design good teaching skills creativity professional experience and the ability to support learners with both theory and practical design work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Teach interior design subjects including design principles space planning colour theory furniture layout materials lighting and finishes.
  • Prepare lesson plans teaching materials assignments and practical design activities.
  • Deliver lectures workshops studio-based sessions and practical demonstrations.
  • Support students in developing design concepts mood boards floor plans presentations and portfolios.
  • Teach students how to use design software such as AutoCAD SketchUp Revit Photoshop Illustrator or similar tools where required.
  • Assess student assignments projects presentations and practical work.
  • Provide constructive feedback to help students improve their design skills.
  • Supervise student projects and support portfolio development.
  • Maintain attendance records assessment records and student progress reports.
  • Support curriculum development and improvement of interior design courses.
  • Promote creativity professionalism teamwork and industry standards among students.
  • Participate in academic meetings student support activities and institutional events when required.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Interior Design Architecture Design Fine Arts Built Environment or a related field.
  • A masters degree in Interior Design Architecture or a related discipline is an advantage.
  • Previous teaching training or lecturing experience is preferred.
  • Professional experience in interior design architecture construction furniture design or design consultancy is an advantage.
  • Good knowledge of interior design principles space planning materials colour lighting and finishes.
  • Ability to use design software such as AutoCAD SketchUp Revit Adobe Photoshop Illustrator or similar software.
  • Good communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to teach both theory and practical design skills.

  • Experience preparing students for employment internships freelance work or entrepreneurship.
  • Experience developing course materials assignments and practical projects.
  • Knowledge of Somali English or Arabic is an advantage.
