2. Job Summary
The successful candidate will deliver undergraduate teaching in geology earth resources petroleum exploration and petroleum engineering. The lecturer should combine strong theoretical knowledge with field laboratory data-analysis and industry-relevant teaching while promoting safety environmental responsibility and professional ethics.
3. Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and deliver lectures tutorials laboratory sessions field-based instruction and other academic activities in assigned geology and petroleum subjects.
- Teach relevant areas such as physical and structural geology mineralogy sedimentology petroleum geology basin analysis geophysics reservoir engineering drilling production systems geological mapping and GIS.
- Develop teaching materials practical exercises data-interpretation tasks and case studies aligned with programme learning outcomes.
- Use geological maps GIS geophysical data petroleum software and other relevant tools to strengthen practical learning where resources permit.
- Plan and supervise geological fieldwork technical visits and practical exercises in accordance with safety and academic requirements.
- Set and assess examinations assignments laboratory work field reports presentations and technical projects and provide constructive feedback.
- Supervise undergraduate research projects capstone projects and internships where assigned.
- Promote professional ethics health and safety environmental responsibility and responsible natural-resource development.
- Maintain complete attendance assessment and academic records and submit reports within required timelines.

4. Qualifications and Experience
Applicants should have:
- Minimum Masters degree in Geology Petroleum Engineering Petroleum Geology Geophysics Geological Engineering or a closely related discipline from a recognised university.
- A relevant Bachelors degree in geology earth sciences or petroleum engineering is required.
- A PhD in a relevant discipline is an advantage.
- Relevant university teaching research field or petroleum-sector experience is strongly preferred.
- Experience in geological mapping exploration reservoir studies drilling production GIS geophysical interpretation or related software is an advantage.
- Knowledge of environmental management occupational health and safety and responsible natural-resource development is desirable.
