2. Job Summary
The successful candidate will teach and support undergraduate learning in agriculture natural-resource management food security climate-smart agriculture and related areas. The role requires an educator who can connect academic knowledge with practical agricultural realities including water and irrigation land and soil management agricultural productivity agribusiness and sustainable rural livelihoods.
3. Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and deliver lectures tutorials field sessions demonstrations and practical learning activities in assigned agricultural subjects.
- Teach relevant areas such as agricultural production systems crop science soil science irrigation agricultural water management climate-smart agriculture natural-resource management food security agribusiness and agricultural extension.
- Develop course materials lesson plans case studies field exercises and other resources aligned with approved learning outcomes.
- Integrate sustainability technology climate resilience and locally relevant agricultural examples into teaching and student projects.
- Plan and supervise field visits farm-based learning demonstrations and community or industry engagement where appropriate.
- Set and mark assignments examinations field reports presentations and research or project work and provide timely feedback.
- Supervise undergraduate projects internships and applied research activities where assigned.
- Maintain accurate attendance assessment and academic records and submit reports on time.
- Mentor students and support the development of professional research and entrepreneurial skills.
- Contribute to curriculum review research outreach quality assurance and continuous improvement of agriculture-related programmes.
4. Qualifications and Experience
Applicants should have:
- Minimum Masters degree in Agriculture Agricultural Science Agronomy Agricultural Resources Natural Resource Management Irrigation Agricultural Economics Agribusiness or a closely related discipline from a recognised university.
- A relevant Bachelors degree in agriculture or a natural-resource discipline is required.
- A PhD in a relevant discipline is an advantage.
- Previous university teaching research field or professional experience in agriculture or rural development is strongly preferred.
- Practical experience in climate-smart agriculture irrigation food security agribusiness agricultural extension or natural-resource management is an advantage.
- Ability to support field-based project-based and applied learning is desirable.
