About the role
AstheAPACMediaRelationsSpokesperson youwill play a dual role as a spokesperson anda regional coordinator. Youwill need to display a clear understanding of Shells strategy and an ability to communicate it in a coherent wayacross print broadcast online and social mediaand work to mitigate the reach and impact ofinaccuratestories.
Youwillwork closely withcountry media relations leads within theAPACregion and act as a focal pointto helpensurethey respond on behalf of Shellconsistently andare proactivelycommunicatingcompany content and messages.
Where you fit in
Reporting to the head ofmedia relationsAPAC the APAC media relationsspokespersonis a support for heads of media relations in countries in the APAC region and a bridge to the Group External Communications and Campaigns team. Together the regional and Group media relations teams act as one managing relationships with major domestic and international print online social and broadcast media and driving consistency of Shell message.
Key Responsibilities:
You will be accountable for helping to drive the consistency ofmedia relations in the region withfocus on English language will also support with media relations work in Australia as.
More specifically your rolewill include:
Build and strengthenrelationshipswith senior journalistsfrom international news wiresandinfluentialtrade publicationsbased in Singaporetoprovidetrusted insight and contextfor Shells strategy and key activities.
Engagement with international mediaonprojectsactivitiesand developing/emerging issues (including crisis situations)acrossAPACandissues abovecountry level.
Supporting on Australia-specific media relations work asrequired including leavecover and support on major projects announcementsissuesand activities.
Leveragesenior leadervisits to countries in the region and drive consistency of briefingsandalignment with groupstoryidentifyopportunitieswith countryCorporateRelations teamstomaximisebenefitandcut-throughofactivities such asmedia briefingseventsand site visitswithin the region.
Acting on owninitiative whenrepresentingthe Groups policies and actions to media and in determiningappropriate toneand level of response.
Filtering incoming requestsfrom internationalmediaforinterviews/engagement with business leaders across the region andadvisingthe in-country media proactiveactivity whereneeded to support Shells business strategy.
Implementing the strategypolicyand standards guidelines process to drive consistency of media relations work across APAC.
Connect country Corporate Relations teams with Group standards guidelines strategy and best practices to drive consistency in media relations and messaging across APAC including:
Acting as a sounding board for media relations advice and coordination across the region.
Supporting a regional community of practice.
Disseminating Group messaging and holding statements.
Acting as the regional approver where required.
Coordinate with Group team tomonitorand measure cutthrough ofShell messaging in proactive storytelling and to keep track of momentum with issues to inform action including use of data and analytics.
Disclosureassistancefor country leads as needed.

You should have a strong interest inthe externalmedialandscape and the interaction of traditionalsocialand broadcast media should be keen to getout and aboutto engage with have a learner mindsetandarealways willing to learn from mistakes and are someone who integrates and collaborates across boundariestomaximisecommercial value for Shell as a it comes to a fast-paced and constantly changing environmentyou are resilient and can thrive in these situations.
Youllideally haveextensivemedia relations experience preferably within amultinationalorganisation.Beyond thatwedhopeto see as manyof the following as possible:
Strong experience working in a corporate communications team within a complexorganisationeither in the public or private sector.
Demonstrate and deploygood judgment and creativity.
An ability toidentifycompelling stories and have an external focus.
Extensive experience working with senior business leaders providing strategic support and guidance developingtrusted partnerships to support business outcomes.
Strong writing skills and proventrack recordin the development of creative engaging content.
Useofdata and insights to inform strategy and tactics.
