About the Role
This role is responsible for the technical integrity and completeness of System FMEA content across the product lifecycle.
This role defines and governs the analysis scope including system elements functions requirements interfaces and boundary conditions to ensure risk analysis reflects the true product designs.
The role ensures robust integration of lessons learned field feedback and cross-functional technical inputs to proactively identify and mitigate product and process risks.
Your Team
You will be part of a global architecture organization responsible for defining and guiding the system and software architecture of IVI/Cockpit/CCU projects and platforms.
There is no direct or indirect report to this role.
What You Will Do
- Define and document system elements functions requirements interfaces and boundary conditions for the System FMEA.
- Set and maintain technical scope and focus areas for FMEA analysis based on architecture changes product maturity and risk hotspots.
- Provide and validate technical input data including requirements interface definitions architecture artifacts and lessons learned.
- Lead technical FMEA content development with system architects hardware and software leads safety quality and manufacturing stakeholders.
- Ensure proactive identification of failure modes effects and causes with clear technical rationale and risk linkage.
- Ensure consistency and traceability between System/Design FMEA and Process FMEA including alignment of risks and actions.
- Drive reuse of validated technical content standard functional blocks and product-line lessons learned.
- Review and approve completeness and correctness of technical FMEA content per project milestones.
- Support FMEA steering and release reviews with clear technical status open risk themes and mitigation effectiveness.
- Track and drive closure of technical action plans with responsible owners and ensure residual risk is acceptable.
What You Need to Be Successful
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Systems Electrical Mechanical Software Engineering or a related technical discipline.
- Strong experience in system-level product development in automotive or other complex embedded systems.
- Proven capability in technical risk management requirements engineering and interface management across disciplines.
- Hands-on knowledge of AIAG and VDA FMEA methodology and practical understanding of DFMEA and PFMEA interaction.
- Ability to translate complex technical topics into structured high-quality FMEA content with clear prioritization.
- Experience facilitating cross-functional technical reviews and aligning stakeholders on risk quality and action ownership.
- Strong analytical problem-solving and decision-making skills with high attention to technical detail and traceability.
- Experience with FMEA software tools (Simens Team Center or APIS IQ) and structured documentation practices.
Bonus Points if You Have
- Previous experience as an FMEA Technical Lead or FMEA Facilitator in series automotive programs.
- Familiarity with automotive development process (ASPICE ITAF16949)
- Experience building and reusing foundation/family FMEA libraries across product lines.
- Understanding of manufacturing handover phases and responsibility transitions from development to industrialization and launch teams.
