Specialist Obstetrics and Gynecology

Position Summary

The Specialist – Obstetrics & Gynecology is responsible for delivering high-quality evidence-based care to women across obstetric and gynecological services within Labor & Delivery and inpatient settings.

The role requires strong clinical expertise in managing obstetric and gynecological conditions supporting safe maternal care and collaborating within a multidisciplinary team in a tertiary-care government hospital setting.

The post is aligned with the Department of Healthcare Professions (DHP) licensing requirements in Qatar.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive obstetric and gynecological care for inpatient and Labor & Delivery patients
• Assess diagnose and manage antenatal intrapartum postnatal and gynecological conditions
• Manage normal and assisted vaginal deliveries and support emergency obstetric management
• Participate in daily inpatient rounds multidisciplinary discussions and clinical handovers
• Respond promptly to obstetric and gynecological emergencies
• Ensure adherence to evidence-based practices clinical protocols and patient safety standards
• Maintain accurate and timely medical documentation in the Hospital Information System (HIS)
• Collaborate effectively with consultants nursing teams neonatology anesthesia and allied health professionals
• Communicate clearly and compassionately with patients and families regarding treatment plans and clinical progress
• Contribute to quality improvement initiatives audits and departmental performance measures

Qualifications & Licensing Requirements (DHP – Qatar)

• Basic Medical Degree (MBBS or equivalent) from a recognized institution
• Board Certification / Residency in Obstetrics & Gynecology from a recognized institution
• Minimum 3 years of post-specialty experience in Obstetrics & Gynecology in:

Governmental hospitals Semi-governmental hospitals or Teaching / university-affiliated hospitals

• Strong experience in Labor & Delivery and inpatient obstetric and gynecological care is mandatory
• Must meet DHP eligibility criteria for Specialist licensure in Obstetrics & Gynecology
• Valid medical license from home country and/or country of practice
• DataFlow verification and Prometric (if applicable) as per DHP requirements

Working Conditions

• 48 hours per week as per hospital policy
• Participation in on-call roster (including nights/weekends)
