S&IP Senior Technician RLP
Job Summary
Provide advanced technical expertise supervision and quality control for all scaffolding insulation and painting (SIP) activities across company facilities. Ensure safe execution compliance with international standards and support maintenance shutdowns and project activities to maintain plant integrity and reliability.
Scaffolding Activities
- Supervise erection modification and dismantling of scaffolds in accordance with company HSE standards and international codes (e.g. BS EN OSHA).
- Review scaffold design drawings and ensure proper load capacity and tagging system.
- Conduct inspections and certify scaffolds prior to use.
- Ensure scaffolding supports maintenance turnaround (TA) and project requirements.
Insulation Works
- Monitor installation and removal of thermal and cold insulation systems for piping vessels and equipment.
- Ensure correct material selection (e.g. mineral wool calcium silicate PIR) in accordance with approved specifications and service requirements.
- Verify compliance with specifications to prevent heat loss condensation and corrosion under insulation (CUI).
- Coordinate insulation reinstatement post-maintenance to restore system integrity and operational efficiency.
Painting & Coating
- Supervise surface preparation (blasting cleaning) and coating applications.
- Ensure proper application of protective coatings for corrosion control.
- Verify paint systems per company and international standards (e.g. SSPC NACE).
- Monitor environmental conditions (humidity temperature dew point).
Maintenance & Turnaround Support
- Support maintenance and turnaround activities by coordinating SIP works during plant shutdowns and turnaround periods. Ensure timely execution to avoid delays in critical path activities.
- Liaise with maintenance operations and contractors’ teams to ensure safe timely and coordinated execution of work.
Team Leadership
- Guide and mentor technicians and contractors to ensure safe and efficient execution of scaffolding insulation and painting activities.
- Ensure workforce competency and productivity with company standards procedures and safety requirements.
- Plan coordinate and prioritize daily maintenance activities to meet operational schedules and maintain continuous plant reliability.
Policies Systems Processes and Procedures
- Contribute to the identification of opportunities for the continuous improvement of Departmental systems policies processes and practices taking into account ‘international leading practices’ in order to improve productivity and operational efficiency.
- Provide critical input to support the development of Section’s systems policies processes and procedures in order to meet business requirements.
- Implement all relevant Section’s policies processes procedures and instructions so that work is carried out in a controlled and consistent manner.
Quality Health Security Safety and Environment
- Ensure compliance with Life Critical Procedures Tenets of Operations Consent to Operate plant policies and procedures
- Enforce company Safety Procedures Permit to Work (PTW) and LT&T systems.
- Conduct toolbox talks and job safety analysis (JSA).
- Ensure all SIP activities comply with Company regulations and site policies.
- Identify hazards and implement mitigation measures.
- Perform routine inspections and audits of SIP work.
- Ensure documentation reports and checklists are completed accurately.
- Verify contractor performance and adherence to specifications.
Reporting
- Prepare and submit Daily Shift Reports in a timely and accurate manner in order to meet the Departmental requirements policies and standards.
- Report incidents and near misses. Perform investigations determine root cause and assign necessary action items.
Qatarization
- Contribute to the development of Qatari employees. This accountability is applicable to expatriate employees only.
5. QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
Education
Required: Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent Technical field.
Experience
Required: 5-7 years in petrochemical or oil & gas industry.
Preferred: Experience in Petrochemicals Industry.
Other Job Specific Requirements and/or Vocational Accreditations
- Relevant certifications in scaffolding (e.g. CISRS or equivalent)
- Coating/painting certification (e.g. NACE Level 1 or higher preferred)
Languages
Required: English - proficient.
Preferred: Arabic - working knowledge
