Position Title: Rigger
Location: Mesaieed Qatar
Working Hours: 08 Hours per Day
Working Days: 05 Days per Week
Contract Duration: 01 Month (Extendable)

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and QatarEnergy-approved Rigger to perform rigging and lifting activities in a refinery environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning and executing safe lifting operations selecting appropriate rigging equipment guiding crane operators through standard signaling methods and ensuring all lifting activities comply with QatarEnergy safety standards and industry best practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform rigging and lifting activities to support maintenance installation and shutdown works within refinery facilities.
• Determine lifting requirements and select appropriate rigging equipment lifting tackles and accessories for each lifting operation.
• Inspect prepare and maintain lifting gear including slings shackles chain blocks wire ropes hoists winches and lifting beams.
• Read and interpret crane load charts to determine safe working loads and lifting capacities.
• Calculate load weights and identify suitable slinging methods and rigging configurations.
• Provide clear hand and radio signals to crane operators during lifting operations.
• Assist in planning and executing complex and critical lifts in accordance with approved lifting plans.
• Ensure proper positioning securing transportation and erection of equipment and materials.
• Conduct pre-use inspections of lifting equipment and report any defects or unsafe conditions.
• Assist crane operators and lifting supervisors during routine and emergency lifting situations.
• Maintain lifting equipment in good condition including lubrication and basic maintenance of wire ropes and rigging gear.
• Follow all refinery safety regulations permit-to-work requirements and QatarEnergy HSE standards.
• Participate in toolbox talks risk assessments and safety meetings as required.

Education

• Minimum Ten (10) years of formal school education.

Experience

• Minimum Ten (10) years of experience in rigging operations within a refinery oil & gas petrochemical or large industrial environment.
• Proven experience in material handling equipment and heavy lifting operations.
• Strong knowledge of lifting equipment rigging practices and safe lifting procedures.
• Ability to calculate loads and determine correct lifting arrangements for various lifting scenarios.

Certification Requirements

• Valid QatarEnergy-approved Rigger Certification issued by an approved Third-Party Inspection Agency (TPI).
• Must be approved by QatarEnergy for refinery lifting operations.

Skills & Competencies

• Thorough knowledge of rigging equipment lifting accessories and lifting techniques.
• Ability to read and interpret crane load charts.
• Good understanding of standard hand signals and communication methods for lifting operations.
• Strong awareness of safety procedures and hazard identification.
• Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented industrial environment.

Language Requirements

• Basic communication skills in English.
• Ability to understand lifting instructions safety procedures and work permits.

Age Requirement

• Not more than Fifty (50) years of age.
