Job Summary
The Rectification Controller reports to the Forward Maintenance Manager and is a skilled maintenance technician undertaking a range reporting tasks prioritizing and allocating manpower. At this level the post holder requires an excellent understanding of the Typhoon aircraft systems and reporting processes.
The post holder will be responsible for accurate maintenance and updating of ESS State Board progressing estimates and forecasts of aircraft recovery times. Briefing the Part M organization on the state of the Typhoon fleet and the recovery actions.
- Provide effective leadership and supervision to team members under your direct supervision
- Ensuring that all maintenance activities are appropriately recorded and airworthiness records are maintained on relevant systems
- Perform Rectifications Control tasking:
- Accurate maintenance and updating of ESS State Board progressing estimates and forecasts of aircraft recovery times
- Briefing squadron authorised pilot regarding aircraft limitations - Undertake and complete tasked maintenance & diagnostic activities on an aircraft or components which may include as appropriate aircraft ground handling flight servicing aircraft role changes component removals inspections repairs modifications fault rectifications replacements and/or functional/system test
- Supervise team to ensure that maintenance is undertaken to schedule and highlight any issues escalate as required. Report on any impact to the wider programme
- Demonstrate a flexible and proactive attitude to carrying out responsibilities appropriate to the role and takes direction appropriately
- Ensure staff are sufficiently competent and approved for the maintenance tasks allocated to them
- Maintain personal & teams task authorisation for working on aircraft or components in accordance with regulatory requirements
- Responsible for meeting agreed delivery targets in the short to medium term through the supervision of others
- Undertake support tasks within the aircraft or component maintenance facility which are required to maintain compliance with the MOE
- Provide guidance and leadership to the team. Develop team members using formal assessment processes. Demonstrate sound and comprehensive communication and people management skills in order to exchange complicated information
- Undertake fault evaluation and raise ad hoc work cards for found faults during maintenance
- Ability to scope and carry out independent and vital inspections
- Meet agreed delivery targets at a tactical level through the effective supervision of personnel
- Performance indicators Ensure the effective management of regulatory activities by setting delivery targets monitoring progress and developing performance improvement programmes. Prioritises activities within/across teams to maximise efficiency. Responsible for the assessment of escalated issues for any impact on continuing airworthiness and generating effective resolution or sponsoring escalation to management as appropriate
- Procedure/standards Comply with the regulatory framework its associated procedures and standards and any other company procedures and standards as applicable. Identify and propose changes as required
- Completion of activities Ensure all Part 145 activities are appropriately documented and airworthiness records are maintained on relevant systems (IT / paper based). Ensure all Part 145 activities are performed by suitably qualified experienced and authorised personnel. Ensure the integration of Part 145 activity within the business including the engagement of key stakeholders at all stages of the process. Provide support and guidance to the team
- Safety Management System - Promote the application of Human Factors Error Management Risk Management and Safety Assurance within the Part 145 team together with the proactive analysis mitigation and management of Hazards
- Management System Assurance Ensure Part 145 team activities are compliant with the Regulatory Governance and Assurance framework. Ensure Process Confirmations and independent assurance audits are supported by Part 145 personnel and integrated within/across teams. Manage the response to audit findings in a timely and appropriate manner and provide information into the relevant reviews. Generate and implement effective improvements within/across teams to overcome any non-compliance and monitor effectiveness
- Statutory/Regulatory & Legislative requirements Able to demonstrate an appropriate level of understanding and application of the relevant continuing airworthiness regulatory framework. Support the implementation of any regulatory driven changes into the maintenance activities. Ensure compliance with all other requirements e.g. ITAR EaPW ISO
- Contractual Requirements Comply with all applicable contractual requirements
- Completion of an Engineering Apprenticeship (including a City & Guilds 2675 or 2661 or equivalent) ideally in Aeronautical Engineering and / or a recognised Engineering Degree from either aeronautical mechanical electrical electronic avionic or other studies relevant to the maintenance and continuing airworthiness of aircraft Requires a minimum of 2 years working at Supervisor level prior to undertaking this role
- On the Job Training Instructional Techniques
- 5 years practical experience applying aviation safety standards and operating practices. 2 years relevant work experience as an operator within the aircraft maintenance component environment. Demonstrating breadth of experience currency & recency via a Log Book capturing skills knowledge and authorities for working on Aircraft or in bays. 6 months experience on type (in the last two years). A comprehensive knowledge of Acceptable Means of Compliance. Management training Typhoon Avionic or Mechanical Trade Q Course or equivalent

Required Skills:
Comply with the latest issue of the BAE SYSTEMS Part 145 Maintenance Organisation Exposition (MOE) and general awareness of the defence logistics framework and associated procedures in relation to the movement of all logistics items Receive all items checking that all required documentation is present and correct and that the packaging is intact. Check that part numbers on documentation matches that marked on the part or parts packaging Quarantine any non-conforming items for appropriate investigation action. Record receipts using the electronic stock accounting systems and procedures currently in operation Place stores and parts demands as required on IMS Maintain the preservation of materials and equipment whilst in storage or transit Ensure the storage handling and movement of hazardous materials is carried out as defined within hazard data sheets and mandated procedures Pick pack and deliver parts requests to the customer checking the right parts are delivered to the right place at the right time safely including line side replenishment Coordination of any Tasking requests that require forklift/vehicle support providing that support and liaising with the requestor to ensure any access or support issues are addressed prior to the activity Coordination of Forward Delivery activities ensuring the QEAF members of staff know where to deliver to and where to collect from Protect any materials for dispatch against transit damage Identify and report inabilities of supply items to all relevant teams Be able to coordinate and assist in the preparation of detachment pack ups Assist in programmed/adhoc Stock Taking activities Performing and understanding investigation activities on IMS to assist in and resolve any stock discrepancies Deliver a Direct Line Feed (DLF) service to Depth and Forward supplying and replenishing all consumable requirements including POL. Ensure the DLF Forward and Depth visit schedule is adhered to preventing any consumable racks or POL in-use lockers from reaching nil stock Maintain the physical storage issue and receipt into and out of stock of all POL items Conduct Warehouse husbandry and building oversite checks Carry out shift work as required in rotation Mentoring QEAF Team members of the Team in effective and safe Supply Chain Operations including monitoring of IMS inputs by the QEAF
