Occupational Therapy Assistant
Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Occupational Therapy Assistant to support Occupational Therapists in delivering high-quality patient care. The role involves assisting with clinical and administrative activities preparing therapy equipment and treatment areas managing therapy resources and stock coordinating equipment loans and ensuring a safe and efficient clinical environment.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical & Operational Support
Assist Occupational Therapists with patient-related activities as delegated.
Prepare treatment areas therapy equipment and materials for patient sessions.
Maintain cleanliness organization and safety of therapy rooms and clinical spaces.
Ensure equipment is cleaned maintained and ready for patient use.
Escort patients within the healthcare facility as required.
Transport supplies equipment and materials in accordance with organizational procedures.
Equipment & Inventory Management
Manage therapy equipment wheelchairs and equipment loan programs.
Maintain accurate records of equipment loans and returns.
Monitor inventory levels and coordinate replenishment of clinical supplies.
Organize and store therapy resources consumables and rehabilitation equipment.
Report equipment faults and coordinate repairs and maintenance.
Administrative Support
Assist with appointment scheduling and departmental administrative activities.
Prepare print and organize patient education materials and clinical documentation.
Support procurement activities for therapy-related equipment and supplies.
Coordinate with internal departments to ensure adequate stock availability.
Quality & Safety
Adhere to infection prevention and control standards.
Follow all health safety and quality policies and procedures.
Report safety concerns incidents and equipment issues promptly.
Maintain patient confidentiality and professional standards at all times.
Participate in quality improvement initiatives and departmental activities.
Requirements
Education
Diploma in Healthcare Allied Health Rehabilitation Science or a related field.
Bachelor's Degree in a relevant discipline is preferred.
Experience
Minimum 2 years of experience in a similar healthcare rehabilitation therapy support or allied health role.
Experience working with patients with disabilities injuries or rehabilitation needs is preferred.
Certifications
Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification preferred.
Relevant Allied Health certification is an advantage.
Skills & Competencies
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong organizational and administrative abilities.
Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Good judgment problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
Fluency in English (written and spoken).
Arabic language skills are an added advantage.
Understanding of patient care infection control and healthcare safety practices.
