1. JOB DETAILS

Reports to: Industrial Hygiene Specialist

3. JOB PURPOSE / OBJECTIVE

Operate and manage IH Laboratory and Equipment assist the Industrial Hygiene Specialist with the implementation of the Industrial Hygiene and Safety Programs and provide day-to-day industrial hygiene support for plant personnel and contractors.

4.1 KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES – Industrial Hygiene and Safety Support

• Inspect test and evaluate workplace environments equipment and practices to ensure safety standards and government regulations are followed.

• Perform and generate report for industrial hygiene surveys in the workplace e.g. Heat Stress monitoring Noise Chemical Exposure Local Exhaust Ventilation and Fume hoods Lighting Radiation and Ergonomic studies to evaluate health risks in the workplace and IH Exposure Assessment.

• Manage all IH equipment including routine maintenance calibration requirements and respirator fit testing requirements including fit testing and record keeping and manage the emergency plant wide escape packs.

• Participate in compliance audits conduct formal audits on IH programs e.g. Industrial radiography & MSDS system Safety Signs and Label Audits.

• Approve and verify the use of all new chemicals entering the facility and act as Assistant Radiation Protection Officer including issuing radiation clearance certificates when necessary.

• Participate and Lead implementation and auditing Safety programs e.g. PPE Assessment Contractor Safety Meeting PTW LT&T JSA Risk Assessment and Confined Space Permit Audit.

• Manage the issuance and registration of Toxic lips and ensure all records are maintained as required.

• Manage and ensure the implementation of IH yearly sampling plan.

• Participate in Plant MOC by doing Hazard Analysis Change Evaluation and PSSR.

• Assist IH Specialist to develop and implement Industrial Hygiene management Program/Plan to ensure implementation of the necessary IH controls to address at-risk health/hygiene condition within the workplace.

• Support necessary section support in the absence of the Specialist to provide IH coverage as required.

4.2 KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES – Sampling and Testing

• Collect samples of potentially toxic materials; work with Industrial Hygiene Specialists to fix hazardous and potentially hazardous conditions or equipment.

• Prepare all industrial hygiene sampling media / consumables and its inventory; and ensure dispatch of samples to external analytical facilities.

• Measure and take sample levels of exposure accurately often through precise use of specialist equipment and recording facts or details of procedures in the workplace.

• Liaise with regulatory bodies such as the Health and Safety Executive (HSE).

Radiation Control Program

• Act as the Company Radiation Protection Officer Designate and ensure all radioactive company devices are registered with appropriate authorities.

• Participate in Developing and providing radiation safety training to end-users to ensure implementation of all facets of the Radiation Control Program on site.

• Maintain the inventory of Radiation List in facility.

• Assist IH Specialist to develop and provide Radiation Safety Training to End-users to ensure implementation of all facets of the Radiation Control Program on site.

Trainings and Awareness

• Influence company management to develop effective hazard controls considering all options of control such as ventilation containment and personal protective equipment and finding cost-effective solutions to eliminate or significantly reduce risk.

• Provide clear and accurate information on complex health and safety issues and educate employees about workplace safety.

• Demonstrate the correct use of safety equipment to ensure proper and safe utilization of the equipment.

Policies Systems Processes and Procedures

• Contribute to the identification of opportunities for the continuous improvement of systems processes and practices in order to increase productivity and operational efficiency.

• Implement all relevant Section’s policies processes procedures and instructions so that work is carried out in a controlled and consistent manner.

Quality Health Security Safety and Environment

• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and relevant quality health safety security and environmental procedures and controls across the Section to guarantee employee safety and delivery of high quality products/services.

Reporting

• Contribute to the preparation of timely and accurate reports to meet departmental requirements policies and standards.

Qatarization

• Contribute to the development of Qatari employees. This accountability is applicable to expatriate employees only.

5. QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

Education

Required (Qualification1 / Discipline): 3-Year Diploma in Science e.g. Biology Physics Nursing Public Health.

Preferred (Qualification1 / Discipline): Bachelor’s Degree in Science BSc.

Experience

Required (Years2 / Job Level3 / Industry): Up to 3 years of experience in the O&G Industry

Preferred (Years2 / Job Level3 / Industry): Experience in Petrochemicals Industry.

Languages
