Leading Main Contractor seeking an experienced Engineering Manager / Coordinator to lead and manage all engineering and technical functions for a major building construction project. Acting as the project's Engineering Manager the successful candidate will oversee the complete engineering process from project commencement through completion ensuring all technical deliverables are coordinated submitted approved and issued to the construction team in accordance with the project schedule.
The Engineering Manager will lead the project's engineering team including architects structural engineers MEP engineers BIM engineers and document controllers while coordinating closely with the Construction Planning Procurement QA/QC Commercial and Project Management teams.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage the project's Engineering Department.
Develop and implement the engineering execution plan in line with the project programme.
Manage the preparation review coordination submission approval and distribution of all engineering deliverables.
Ensure timely approval of Shop Drawings Models Material Submittals Sample Submittals Builder's Works Drawings Method Statements Mock-ups RFIs Technical Queries (TQs) Design Clarifications.
Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering activities between Architectural Structural Civil MEP Façade Interior Fit-Out and Specialist Systems.
Lead engineering coordination meetings with Consultants Clients Designers and Subcontractors.
Resolve technical and constructability issues affecting project execution.
Review IFC drawings and contract documents to identify inconsistencies omissions and design conflicts.
Ensure BIM coordination model reviews and clash detection activities are completed before construction.
Coordinate engineering deliverables with Procurement to ensure timely material approvals and purchasing.
Coordinate engineering deliverables with Planning to support construction sequencing and project milestones.
Manage engineering interfaces with subcontractors and specialist suppliers.
Ensure all approved drawings are issued to site in a controlled and timely manner.
Monitor engineering KPIs submission logs approval status and engineering productivity.
Support commercial and contractual teams on technical matters variations and claims.
Ensure compliance with project specifications local regulations and applicable codes.
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering Architecture Structural Engineering or a related discipline.
15–20 years of experience in building construction projects.
Minimum 10 years with major main contractors in engineering management or technical management roles.
Proven experience managing multidisciplinary engineering teams on large-scale building projects.
Strong experience managing technical submissions and consultant approvals.
Extensive knowledge of contractor engineering processes and construction methodologies.
Previous experience in Qatar or GCC is mandatory.
Other Qualifications
MMUP (UPDA) registration in Qatar (preferred).
Experience on high-rise commercial hospitality healthcare mixed-use or mega building projects.
Familiarity with Qatar Construction Specifications (QCS) Qatar National Building Code QatarEnergy requirements and relevant international codes.
PMP certification is an advantage.
Technical Skills
Excellent understanding of contractor engineering workflows.
Strong knowledge of multidisciplinary coordination.
Experience with BIM coordination and model review.
Familiarity with document management systems such as Aconex or ACC.
Proficiency in AutoCAD Revit (coordination) Navisworks and Microsoft Office.
