Job Summary

A Commi I is responsible for assisting in food preparation and cooking under the supervision of senior chefs. The role includes basic cutting cooking and mise en place tasks while ensuring hygiene food safety and kitchen standards are maintained at all times.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Report for duty punctually wearing the correct uniform and name badge at all times.
  2. Assist in preparing all food items in the respective kitchen section in accordance with established recipe cards and methods.
  3. Prepare food items for daily operations while maintaining set quality standards.
  4. Prepare daily mise-en-place for the assigned kitchen section.
  5. Minimize wastage of food items and ingredients.
  6. Collect food requisitions from different outlets as directed.
  7. Support senior chefs in maintaining proper portion control standards.
  8. Assist in breaking down mise-en-place stations after meal periods and ensure proper food storage.
  9. Work in any kitchen section as required by superiors or operational needs.
  10. Participate in scheduled training sessions for culinary and personal development.
  11. Ensure kitchen operating equipment is maintained in good condition with minimal breakage.
  12. Maintain cleanliness of walk-in chillers reach-ins and deep freezers ensuring food is stored following FIFO (First In First Out) standards.
  13. Adhere to company policies related to fire safety hygiene and workplace safety.
  14. Maintain high standards of personal grooming and hygiene at all times.

Qualifications Required

  • Certificate or Diploma in Culinary Arts Food Production or a related field.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in the hospitality sector.
  • Basic knowledge of food preparation cooking methods and kitchen equipment.
  • Understanding of food hygiene and HACCP standards.

Skills Required

  • Good teamwork and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of kitchen equipment and basic cooking techniques.
  • Ability to follow recipes and instructions accurately.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Attention to detail and cleanliness in the work area.
  • Flexibility to work irregular hours including evenings weekends and public holidays based on operational requirements.
