To help us shape the green transition and strengthen our team within water and drainage we are looking for Senior/Principal Water/Drainage/Utilities Engineer to join our team and play an important role in creating the solutions of the future. You will have the opportunity to work closely with colleagues globally on some of the most sustainable projects.

This role will support the delivery of wastewater infrastructure and non-infrastructure projects for major UK water companies under frameworks such as AMP programmes. Experience of working to UK water industry standards client specifications and regulatory requirements is essential.

Furthermore on a day-to-day basis you will:

  • Lead the design and delivery of water drainage sewer and wastewater infrastructure/non-infrastructure projects across all phases from feasibility and outline design through to detailed design and construction support.
  • Provide technical leadership to multidisciplinary teams coordinating integrated solutions across process mechanical electrical ICA and civil/structural disciplines for wastewater networks pumping stations storm overflows SuDS treatment works and associated infrastructure.
  • Manage end-to-end design delivery ensuring quality compliance programme adherence risk management value engineering and alignment with UK water company standards CDM Regulations British Standards Eurocodes and NEC-based contract environments.
  • Mentor and guide design teams fostering collaboration innovation technical excellence and digital delivery initiatives including BIM 3D modelling and common data environments.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships while contributing to business development activities such as proposals presentations and collaborative framework engagements.
  • Drive health safety and wellbeing in design in line with CDM requirements and COWI quality procedures.

On top of that you have:

  • Masters degree in Environmental or Civil Engineering with 10 years of experience in the water industry including at least 3 years in a design leadership role within engineering solutions and multidisciplinary project environments.
  • Strong experience in water and wastewater infrastructure/non-infrastructure projects preferably within the UK water sector including work with water companies consultants contractor design partners AMP frameworks (AMP7/AMP8) and relevant regulatory drivers.
  • Good knowledge of UK design standards and industry guidance including Sewers for Adoption CIRIA SuDS Manual CDM Regulations British Standards and experience in hydraulic design drainage design and utility coordination using relevant industry software.
  • Proven ability to manage and coordinate multidisciplinary delivery teams while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams clients and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication interpersonal and leadership skills with fluent spoken and written English.
  • Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or working towards chartership with recognised institutions such as Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) or Chartered Institution of Water and Environmental Management (CIWEM) is desirable.
