Lead Engineer – LOCA & Containment Analysis
Job Summary
As a contributing member of the LOCA Containment & Stability Analysis Team you will perform plant thermal-hydraulic safety analysis with two-phase thermal hydraulic analysis techniques. You will support reload and design applications for Boiling Water Reactor (BWR) plants including currently operating BWR plants as well as new plants (BWRX Natrium) operating or planned worldwide.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Perform plant thermal hydraulic evaluations and analyses in the areas of ECCS LOCA Containment HELB Fire Safe Shutdown Annulus Pressurization Loads and RIPD analyses.
- General expertise in two-phase thermal hydraulic analysis techniques.
- Take responsibility for fuel project activities including reload analyses methods implementation power uprates new fuel introductions and safety analysis support for emergent fuel issues.
- Perform in cross-disciplinary settings engaged with interfacing teams responsible for mechanical design core design licensing systems design or other affiliated organizations to find optimum customer solutions.
- Prepare document and present technical data to internal/external customers.
- Provide technical mentoring to support team development and knowledge management including procedure development and adherence.
- Develop/deliver training course offerings in support of external commercial requests as well as for internal audiences for knowledge management and knowledge capture and transfer.
- Lead team process improvements to drive speed and simplification.
- Ensure work is performed with high quality in accordance with regulatory rules and regulations customer requirements and business quality assurance standards.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree in Engineering Discipline (Nuclear Mechanical Chemical or similar) from an accredited college or university.
- Experience in T-H Nuclear Plant Safety Analysis.
Desired Characteristics
- Experience in ECCS LOCA Containment HELB Fire Safe Shutdown Annulus Pressurization Loads and Reactor Internals Pressure Difference analyses.
- M.S. Degree in Nuclear Engineering with experience in T/H modeling as applied to nuclear reactor systems.
- Experience with BWR technology ECCS LOCA and Containment analysis to support applicable regulatory requirements.
- Knowledge of reactor licensing requirements.
- Experience with BWR/PWR T-H systems codes such as TRACG RELAP & TRACE.
- Experience in Best Estimate methodology development (e.g. TRACG LOCA).
- Experience with Best Estimate and CSAU applications.
- Programming experience such as C# FORTRAN or PYTHON.
