The Tax Specialist will be responsible for supporting and managing the companys tax compliance and reporting requirements ensuring adherence to Philippine tax regulations and applicable statutory requirements. The role involves preparing tax filings assisting in audits monitoring regulatory updates and providing operational tax support to the finance team. The ideal candidate has strong knowledge of Philippine taxation excellent analytical skills and experience handling tax compliance in a fast-paced corporate environment.
- Prepare review and file national and local tax returns accurately and on time (e.g. Corporate Income Tax Value-Added Tax Withholding Taxes Percentage Tax Documentary Stamp Tax Local Business Tax Annual Registration Fee).
- Ensure compliance with monthly quarterly and annual tax requirements.
- Maintain organized and audit-ready tax records filings and supporting documentation.
- Coordinate with the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and Local Government Units (LGUs) regarding tax-related matters and submissions.
- Monitor deadlines and ensure timely payment of taxes and regulatory fees.
- Assist in the preparation and reconciliation of tax-related general ledger accounts.
- Support the calculation of current and deferred tax provisions in compliance with Philippine Financial Reporting Standards (PFRS).
- Assist in preparing tax schedules and disclosures required for audited financial statements.
- Coordinate with accounting teams to ensure accurate recording of tax transactions.
- Assist during BIR and LGU tax audits assessments and inquiries.
- Prepare and organize supporting documents and schedules for tax examinations.
- Monitor tax notices assessments and correspondences ensuring timely responses and resolution.
- Coordinate with external auditors consultants and legal counsel when necessary.
- Monitor updates in Philippine tax laws BIR regulations and local tax ordinances and communicate relevant changes to management.
- Conduct tax research and provide practical recommendations to ensure compliance and improve tax processes.
- Support the finance and operations teams by providing guidance on tax implications of transactions vendor agreements promotions and financing arrangements.
- Assist in developing and improving tax policies procedures and internal controls.
- Identify opportunities to streamline tax compliance processes and improve efficiency.
- Support training initiatives related to tax compliance and regulatory requirements.
- Bachelors degree in Accountancy Finance or a related field.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license is preferred but not required.
- Minimum of 35 years of relevant tax experience.
- Experience in financial services banking fintech consumer finance or a similar industry is an advantage.
- Background in an auditing firm or large corporation is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of the Philippine Tax Code BIR regulations and local tax compliance requirements.
- Familiarity with Philippine Financial Reporting Standards (PFRS).
- Proficiency in MS Excel and tax compliance systems.
- Experience using ERP systems such as SAP Oracle or Netsuite is an advantage.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Good communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
