Organizational Setting and Reporting Relationship
The position of Senior Editor is assigned to the Information Access Unit within the Office of the Secretary (SEC). You will be based at our Headquarters in Manila Philippines and relocation is required. All reasonable expenses will be covered.
You will report to the Advisor SEC and Head Information Access Unit and will oversee junior team members.
Your Role
As a Senior Editor you will provide senior editorial leadership for Board documents serve as a focal point for information classification oversee Board document circulation and support public disclosure in accordance with the ADBs Access to Information Policy (AIP). You will also contribute strategically to the modernization of information management processes including the integration of digital workflows and the responsible adoption of AIenabled tools.
You will:
1. Editing and circulation
- Provide seniorlevel editing of Board documents.
- Strengthen the clarity coherence and narrative quality of Board documents.
- Provide technical guidance mentoring and capacity building support to staff and project teams on editorial quality and document preparation.
- Oversee Board document circulation ensuring timely circulation of documents to BOD aligned with ADB standards templates and style guidelines.
2. Information classification disclosure and governance
- Serve as the focal point for information classification.
- Advise departments on classification issues and support consistent institutional practice in coordination with key internal stakeholders.
- Lead and coordinate capacity development activities on information classification in collaboration with relevant departments.
- Guide staff on disclosure procedures requirements and disclosure notes in accordance with the AIP and applicable sections of the ADB Operations Manual.
- Raise awareness and build capacity of staff in other departments and field offices on the implementation of the AIP.
3. Digital transformation and innovation
- Contribute to the design and improvement of digital workflows.
- Support the adoption of AIenabled tools for editorial information classification and informationmanagement purposes in coordination with relevant stakeholders.
- Identify opportunities to streamline processes reduce duplication and enhance efficiency.
4. Knowledge management and institutional support
- Support departmental knowledgemanagement initiatives and learning activities.
- Assist in the organization of major institutional events including the Annual Meeting of the Board of Governors.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by management.
You will need:
- Masters degree or equivalent in English Journalism Communications International Affairs Public Policy Social Sciences or related fields. University degree in English Journalism Communications International Affairs Social Sciences Information Management Library Science or related fields and at least 5 years specialized experience relevant to the position can be considered.
- At least 10 years of relevant editing experience in a professional capacity.
- International experience working in several countries preferably in developing countries.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.

Additional Information
This appointment is open to internal and external applicants.
This is a fixed-term appointment for an initial fixed period of 3 years. At the end of the initial period this appointment may at the option of ADB be extended once for up to 2 years converted to a regular appointment or ended on its expiration date. This decision will be made in the overall interest of ADB that: (a) it will require Staffs particular blend of skills and experience in the foreseeable future; and (b) Staffs performance is satisfactory and they are suitable for further employment.
