The SAP ERP System Lead is a critical role responsible for ensuring the reliable operation compliance and continuous improvement of SAP-based applications within a regulated IT environment. This role covers the entire system lifecycle from planning and implementation through operation maintenance and decommissioning.
Core Principle: We are looking for a candidate with strong technical capability and a system ownership mindset who proactively drives system operations-especially in a GxP-regulated environment. Essential SAP Basis skills are a natural part of this role but the scope extends beyond pure technical administration to encompass full system lifecycle management stakeholder coordination and compliance oversight.
Key Responsibilities
System Lifecycle Management & Ownership
Own end-to-end responsibility for the SAP system lifecycle including planning development testing implementation technical operations maintenance change management and decommissioning.
Act as the central technical owner for the assigned system ensuring all components are aligned with enterprise standards and strategies.
Proactively identify system improvements technical debt and potential risks.
Technical Operations & System Health
Perform and oversee regular system operations including logfile analysis system health checks and performance monitoring.
Lead and execute patching backup/recovery and disaster recovery testing in coordination with infrastructure teams.
Proactively troubleshoot and resolve technical issues working with support teams as needed.
Ensure system stability through proactive optimization and performance improvements.
GxP Compliance & Quality
Ensure full compliance with BI standards IT governance SOPs and GxP requirements.
Proactively manage compliance documentation validation and audit readiness.
Coordinate and participate in GxP impact assessments computer system validation (CSV) and quality management processes.
Stakeholder & Vendor Management
Maintain close communication with service owners BI stakeholders and suppliers.
Act as the primary technical contact for the assigned system providing guidance and expertise.
Coordinate system-related activities across IT and support teams.
Change Release & Configuration Management
Manage end-to-end change requests within the ITSM framework.
Ensure adherence to Change Control processes and GxP guidelines.
Maintain accurate system architecture and configuration documentation.
Data & Security Management
Ensure accuracy and completeness of data in CMDB.
Manage technical accounts access reviews and security policies.
Monitor Remote Access Recording (RAR) logs and ensure proper information classification.
Audit & Quality Support
Support internal and external audits by providing documentation and expertise.
Conduct GxP impact assessments in collaboration with Quality functions.
Apply lean validation principles for computer systems.
Required Qualifications
Education & Experience
Bachelors degree in IT or a related field (or equivalent experience).
Minimum 3 years of experience as a System Lead or in a comparable role.
Technical Capability (Essential)
SAP Basis skillsare essential-candidates must have hands-on experience with:
System installation configuration and maintenance.
User and security administration.
Performance monitoring logfile analysis and system health checks.
Backup and recovery coordination.
Patch management and vulnerability remediation.
Understanding of SAP ERP systems and application lifecycle management.
