Job Summary
The Project Officer Education-in-Emergencies (EiE) is responsible for the day-to-day management and quality implementation of Save the Childrens EiE interventions under the Southern Mindanao Earthquake Response including Temporary Learning Spaces (TLS) Learning Continuity Spaces (LCS) Return-to-Learning (RTL) activities psychosocial support distribution of Back-to-School Kits (BSKs) Teaching Kits (TKs) and other education-related interventions and the cash grant distributions. The post holder ensures that earthquake-affected children regain equitable access to safe protective and inclusive learning opportunities through timely evidence-based and child-centered programming. The post holder translates response strategies into operational plans and leads field implementation in close coordination with DepEd local government units school communities humanitarian partners and affected populations. The role requires balancing technical quality operational efficiency accountability to affected populations and adaptive management in a rapidly evolving emergency context. Beyond activity implementation the Project Officer is expected to identify emerging education needs recommend program adjustments based on field evidence strengthen local ownership of interventions and ensure that childrens voices and priorities inform decision-making throughout the response. The post holder contributes to organizational learning by documenting lessons supporting evidence generation and promoting continuous improvement of EiE programming.
Essential skills knowledge or experience
- Experience working with DepEd LGUs civil society organizations and community stakeholders.
- Experience in project implementation beneficiary targeting distributions and field coordination.
- Strong report writing documentation and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
- Willing to travel extensively and work in difficult field conditions including deployment to remote and hard-to-reach areas extended land and sea travel and austere working and living environments during emergency response operations.
Desirable skills knowledge or experience
- Experience in Education-in-Emergencies programming.
- Familiarity with INEE Minimum Standards and Sphere Standards.
- Experience in emergency response and post-disaster recovery programs.
- Knowledge of child safeguarding child protection and accountability mechanisms.
Required education and qualifications (certifications licenses accreditations etc.)
- Bachelors degree in Education Social Work Community Development Social Sciences Development Studies or related field.
- At-least two (2) years of experience in humanitarian response education programming community development or related field.
