Hours: 520 hours per week (Flexible / Remote Philippines Timezone Preferred)
Overview:
Promet Source is seeking an Independent PDF Accessibility Specialist to consult with our clients on PDF accessibility best practices and remediate documents to meet WCAG Section 508 and PDF/UA standards. This role ensures that all PDF content is fully usable by individuals relying on assistive technologies including screen readers.
Responsibilities:
- Remediate PDFs for accessibility including tagging reading order alternative text headings tables forms and bookmarks.
- Test documents using screen readers (JAWS NVDA VoiceOver) and automated tools (Adobe Acrobat Accessibility Checker PAC CommonLook).
- Convert scanned or image-based PDFs into accessible searchable documents using OCR.
- Review source files (Word InDesign PowerPoint) and recommend upstream accessibility fixes to streamline remediation.
- Conduct accessibility audits and produce VPAT/ACR documentation as needed.
- Track and prioritize remediation tasks across a document backlog while consistently meeting deadlines and quality standards.
- Stay current on WCAG 2.1/2.2 Section 508 ADA and PDF/UA requirements.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience remediating PDFs for accessibility compliance.
- In-depth working knowledge of WCAG 2.1/2.2 AA guidelines and Section 508 standards.
- Proficiency with Adobe Acrobat Pro AEM Designer (tagging reading order form design) and automated accessibility testing tools.
- Practical familiarity with screen reader testing and assistive technology.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage a high-volume document workload.
- IAAP certification (CPACC WAS or CPWA) is highly preferred.
Preferred Experience:
- Remediating complex structures including interactive forms multi-page tables charts and multi-column layouts.
- Working with source authoring tools (Microsoft Word Adobe InDesign PowerPoint) using accessible-by-design principles.
