Intermediate Scrum Master

Leads Agile Development squads with autonomy and accountability across a number of projects/platforms.

Position Responsibilities:

• Supports 1-2 teams on a single backlog (AMS or PSS)
• Experience being on multiple Scrum teams in a variety of different contexts (different team sizes different projects different cultures co located vs. distributed etc).
  • Coaches different levels of hierarchy through agile principles & practices
  • Conducts Agile Events including sprint planning daily stand ups sprint reviews and retrospectives
  • Educates the squads on the adoption of Agile practices and identifies Agile Team improvement opportunities.- Focuses squads on value creation
  • Identifies obstacles to team/s performance; facilitates resolution and escalates where necessary
  • Actively participates in sprints and partners with Product Owners to enable the delivery of prioritized features- Reinforces target agile behaviors
  • Acts as a servant leader to the team (not the bossʼ)
  • Proactively provides real-time feedback to keep delivery on track and address issues as they arise
• Member of the Scrum Masters Community
  • Represents Manulife values without fail
  • Facilitates and actively participates in MITDC LACE Agile events CoPs workshops and townhalls
  • Identifies obstacles to team performance; facilitates resolution and escalates where necessary
  • Implements to squad teams project initiated by the LACE team

Required Qualifications:

• At least 2-3 years with experience as a Scrum Master delivering complex technology solutions

• Strong working knowledge of key aspects of role

• Staying abreast of developments in own technical discipline and able to recognize and translate these to own working environments

• Possesses analytical skills and appreciates complex situations but only able to achieve partial resolution

• Knowledge of Agile planning and tracking tools

• Good verbal and written communication; able to effectively articulate technical vision possibilities and outcome

Preferred Qualifications:

• Any of the following will be an advantage:

  • SAFe Certifications (Leading SAFe Advanced SM RTE)
  • PMP certifications
  • Scrum Master Certification
  • Insurance Industry experience
  • ITIL Certification
  • Working knowledge of business intelligence business process and/or correspondence management platforms and integrating systems via API/web services.
