Job Summary

Summary
The GL Accountant supports Carmel Partners Corporate Accounting team with general ledger and general partnership (GP) accounting activities across the firms fund structures. This role focuses on account reconciliations internal audit support and budgeting and re-forecasting.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Prepare and maintain general ledger entries for assigned management companies and general partnership (GP) entities within Carmels fund structures.

  • Perform monthly quarterly and annual balance sheet and GL account reconciliations identifying discrepancies and resolving them promptly.

  • Perform reconciliations of intercompany and affiliate accounts across assigned management and GP entities.

  • Prepare journal entries and supporting account analyses for month-end and quarter-end close.

  • Reconcile cash capital call distribution activity and equity accounts for assigned GP entities.

  • Maintain loan amortization schedule and recognize quarterly interest income.

  • Manage Accounts Payable: audits post AP and reconcile sub-ledger.

  • Maintain accurate supporting workpapers for GAAP and tax basis financial reporting.

  • Assist with preparation of quarterly and annual entity-level financial statements for assigned entities.

  • Review Concur transactions and perform audits.

  • Support the annual budgeting process and quarterly re-forecasting cycles including budget-to-actual variance analysis.

  • Perform quarterly expense allocation audits on assigned accounts including preparing supporting schedules documentation and responses.

  • Collaborate with the Corporate Accounting team and Carmel Finance Leadership on ad hoc analyses and special projects.

  • Ensure compliance with Carmels accounting policies procedures and internal control standards.

  • Maintain clear timely communication with the Corporate Accounting team given the offshore work arrangement.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by manager.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or a related field.
  • Experience: 45 years of general ledger accounting experience with direct hands-on experience in general partnership (GP) accounting.
  • Reconciliation & Audit: Demonstrated experience performing monthly quarterly and annual balance sheet and GL account reconciliations internal audit support and budgeting/re-forecasting processes (ideally within a partnership or fund structure).
  • Industry & Technical Knowledge: Working knowledge of GAAP with exposure to tax basis financial reporting a plus; real estate fund administration private equity or multiple-entity accounting experience strongly preferred.
  • Software & Tools: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (reconciliation and variance analysis) and Word; experience with accounting/ERP systems (e.g. Oracle Yardi) preferred.
  • AI & Modern Workflow: Demonstrated ability to effectively leverage AI-powered tools to improve productivity analysis and decision-making.
  • Core Skills: Strong attention to detail analytical and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines independently.
  • Communication & Remote Work: Solid written and verbal communication skills in English; comfortable working across time zones using digital collaboration tools (email Zoom Teams) and working independently in a remote offshore consulting engagement.



Required Skills:

Requirements: Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting or Finance 6 years experience in accounting remote work experience preferred In-depth knowledge of US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) Previous experience in Real Estate Real Estate Fund Investment Accounting or related field preferred (multi-family experience a plus) Must have extensive knowledge of computers Windows (Word Excel Outlook) and other applicable accounting software Previous experience with Oracle and Yardi accounting software is a plus Previous experience in public accounting is a plus Solid proactive communication skills (written and verbal)comfortable in all the tools of digital communication (email chat/IM online meetings such as Zoom collaboration tools and fileshares such as Teams OneNote etc.) Required to work in the US Pacific Time Zone Must have Fiber Optic internet with at least 25 Mbps bandwidth Must have a backup desktop or laptop with the latest OS Must be able to work from 12AM to 9AM
